Artist Interview- Kristine Rommel:
1. (keith from Indieheaven) Tell us about your music mission, why are you drawn to writing, producing, and performing your music?
(kistine) My mission is to give hope, inspiration, motivation and healing to anyone who seeks it through music. I had a very difficult start as a child and have a very strong desire to share my life and walk with God. Since a young age music and writing came naturally to me. I am drawn to it because I have been aware that this was a "gift" since I was a child.
2. (keith from Indieheaven) It's obvious that you have done a great job in your content, from your branding, to your imaging, your music. Why was this important to you?
(kistine) I am an 18 year military veteran. The one thing I always learned was "attention to detail". I actually went to stores and envisioned my CD next to those on the shelf; what it should look like so that it would get the attention it deserved. I listened to the quality of music out there; I wanted to be in the same ball park. It is important because you may only have a few seconds to get someones attention. This is also why I sang accapella for the first 30 seconds of my 1st track 'Deliver Me'. I wanted my voice to be the very first thing heard.
3. (keith from Indieheaven) What are you finding as you are working on expanding the breadth of your music and mission?
(kistine) I have found that music connects people and the internet is an amazing resource to make that connection. It is unthinkable to me that I have fans in other countries! People send me emails to share their stories and dreams as well as fans who just want to say "thank you". The internet is an amazing resource! I have replied to emails and had "conversations" with my fans about God, music, and fulfilling dreams. I am so blessed to have this opportunity. I have also found that not everyone will love what you are doing and you have to keep a positive attitude always. Most importantly, you can't record a CD and hope that people will come knowing down your door. You have to work on it daily.
4. (keith from Indieheaven) If you had a choice, would you rather continue as an independent artist, or would you like to be signed to a label, and why?
(kistine) As an independent artist the out of pocket costs to include promotion and marketing can get really expensive. Also you have to work real hard on your own to get people to give your music a chance. I don't know how many people I can reach independently so I just leave that one in the hands of God to decide.
5. (keith from Indieheaven) What is your plan to complete the mission God has called you to?
(kistine) If there is one thing in my heart that I know for sure it is that God HAS called me to praise him through music. At a very young age I sang in the mirror, as a teenager I sang in choir, as an adult I sang in churches, veterans events and NASCAR. I sang all my life but could ever figure out what kind of artist I wanted to be. I kept praying and asking "why did you give me this talent, what am I to do with it?" Just a few years ago I tuned into Christian radio for the first time and heard "I Can Only Imagine by Mercy Me. I began crying and knew at that moment this was the answer to my life long question. This was my calling. Now that my project is done my plan is to continue to introduce Christian Music to those who may not have ever given it a listen. I can't tell you how many ears have given my cd a listen and love it right off the bat and yet at the same time I am providing examples of Gods love. 'Choose To Fly' tells a story about a foster child who turned to God and found peace, joy, love and forgiveness. The music brings questions, questions bring conversation and conversation about God is my way of ministering. The most amazing thing is that I love to sing and perform,..what better way to do it?
6. (keith from Indieheaven) If you had some advice for someone who is just starting the process of being a Christian artist, what would that advice be?
(kistine) To perform from your heart because that is where God is. Pray to him to prepare others for your music. I never second guess or doubt what I am doing because God has called me to do it. Have faith that he has it all planned out, be patient and trust in him. Believe in yourself.
7. (keith from Indieheaven) Chocolate or vanilla, and why?
(kistine) This question is not fair. I LOVE ice cream. I can never choose but rather have them both together.
