Marriage Conference Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Headed to Brownsburg, Indiana for a marriage conference with Hope Community Church this weekend! It has been a while since I was with this church and looking forward to seeing everyone there. I will be sharing one of my latest songs called Son of the LIving God, which my oldest daughter helped me write.

Son of the Living God

Verse 1:

You are the One,

There is no other,

Where else can we go?

Your words are truth,

Your words are power

Lead to eternal life.....

Chorus:

Jesus, Messiah, relentless in Your love.

Redeemer, Deliverer, You are the Christ,

The Son of the Living God,

Son of the Living God.

Verse 2:

And so You came,

not to condemn us

But to show us the Father's heart.

A heart of love,

mercy and grace

Seeker of the lost!

Bridge:

You have the words of life

                    (Where else can we go?)

You have the words of life

                    (Where else can we go?)

You have the words of life

               (Show us the Father's heart)

An Amazing Mission Trip to Honduras! Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Wow! What an amazing trip the team of 18 journeyed on two weeks ago. I signed up in August to go along on a mission trip to Honduras with Forest Park Community Church, (my home church) located in Louisville, KY. After many meetings and fund raisers, we set out on February 18, 2012. Most of us journeyed with American Airlines through Miami, Florida. Three of our team members were to take a different flight with Continental via Houston, Texas. Our flight was uneventful.... except for the AMAZING landing in Tegucigalpa. We met Terry Dupont, founder of Open Eyes Ministries of Central America. We hoped on a renuvated old school bus and traveled about and hour and a half to our home for a week in Comayagua.

The next day, Sunday, we had two services at two different churches. Usually, someone from our team will give a testimony followed by some singing by yours truly and a couple of other folks from our team, then we have someone from our team preach. Always following the sermon is an intense time of the call to repent and surrender to Christ. Many people came to know the Lord at these times. This was then followed by a time of healing where we would ask anyone wanting prayer to come down and we would lay hands on them and ask the Father of Glory to meet them where they were.

Our team originally set out to be a medical mission trip, but because we had no doctors and only one nurse sign up to go, Open Eyes changed our week to that of Evangelism. So, everyday, our team would go to a certain area of Comayagua and work with a church for that day. (This is the same Comayagua where the prison fire was just days prior to our trip.) Our North American team would split up into three, four or five groups each hooking up with a translator that works for Open Eyes. We would then go to an area near the 'church of the day' and meet up with the leadership of that church. We would then start walking the streets knocking on doors. Each group would have a translator, a leader of the church and our team members going door to door sharing our story of how Christ intercepted our lives....and how he wants to do the same for them.

Almost no one was ever turned away by the wonderfully hospitable Honduras people. By the end of the week, from the door-to-door exploits, the school meetings, and all the church meetings we know of at least 175 people who asked Christ to be their Lord and Savior. With churches who would be there to help these new believers began to grow in their walk with Christ! It is just a wonderful experience partnering with Open Eyes Ministries because we know these new brothers and sisters in Christ will be mentored and discipled. ALL praise belongs to Jesus.

I have been so encourage to share my own story as a result of this trip. I would also like to encourage you (whoever you are reading this little blog) to tell your story. Just tell others how Jesus changed your life. INVITE them to embrace the Truth of the gospel that He wants a relationship with them. Why God desires that relationship so much that He would send Christ to pay for our sins is beyond my understanding......BUT HE DID! Just share your story...with your neighbor, your grocer, your doctors and most of all with your family. 175 people decided to Trust their souls to their Creator that week in Honduras. Awesome!

Chris

Honduras Missions trip TOMORROW! Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Forest Park Community Church in Louisville, KY is sending a mission team to Comayagua, Honduras tomorrow morning. A team of 18 will embark early on February 18th and arrive in the early afternoon. Find the latest trip news here.

I can only believe the Lord God Almighty, in His amazing foreknowledge has been preparing our team to go at such a time as this. Comayagua has been in the news due to a huge prison fire that killed over 350 (and still counting). Our church has suffered the loss of two wonderful young men in the month of December. God has prepared our hearts to help others in the midst of their suffering. 'God, grant us Your words to deliver to those in desperate pain."

Here is where we will land tomorrow afternoon! Check out this landing!

Ride to glory: Dylan First Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I just wanted to post a great article of one of the young men in our church who touched my life and many....many others.

(From The SouthEast Outlook Newspaper)

Dylan ...First ran the race.

On Dec. 30, 2011, the 17-year-old senior at Jeffersontown High School pulled on his boots, strapped on his helmet and goggles and straddled his neon green Kawasaki motorcycle with the number 316 in giant letters on the front and side. Everyone who knew Dylan understood the significance of those three numbers that stood for John 3:16: "For God so loved the world that he gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

Dylan loved motocross, but he loved Jesus more. He'd been riding dirt bikes since he was little, a nine-year veteran of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes motocross team that reaches riders for Christ with the themes to "put the cross in motocross " and "faster for the Master."

Dylan's dad, Tony, and younger brother, Matthew, ride motocross. So does his pastor, Ronnie Caswell, along with many from Southeast. His mother, Patty, has been an enthusiastic fan.

Earlier that morning, Dylan led the devotion for the crowd at the FCA winter camp at Durhamtown Plantation in Union Point, Ga. He also did it the night before.

And as he had done a thousand times before, Dylan kick started the bike with his right foot and the engine ripped to life like a chainsaw. A video captured him riding up and down the sides of a deep dirt pit, then flying through the motocross course. Dirt flew as he leaned into curves. He loved jumps, to reach the top of the arc, freeze, rotate and dive for the ground. Dylan rode like a pro.

The track at Durhamtown was not difficult or dangerous, but during that morning ride, Dylan lost control of the bike and flew over the handlebars. The bike landed on his chest. FCA sponsors, some of Dylan's best friends, held his hands as Caswell prayed and performed CPR, but minutes later, about 11:15 a.m., Dylan "rode to glory."

Read the rest of Dylan's story in this week's Southeast Outlook.

Larry Norman flies home! Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

With a sad heart we read yesterday that Larry Norman, the father of Christian rock music made his way home to be with his Savior. Norman was 60 years old and even hours before his death, he was creating lyrics for his next project. How his music challenged, encouraged, and convicted my walk with Jesus. How we all, ALL, in Christendom will miss him.
He dictated the following message to you while his friend Allen Fleming typed these words into Larry's computer:
"I feel like a prize in a box of cracker jacks with God's hand reaching down to pick me up. I have been under medical care for months. My wounds are getting bigger. I have trouble breathing. I am ready to fly home. (.... read more) "

One of Larry's very profound songs I still love:

I Am a Servant
I am a servant, I am listening for my name
I sit here waiting I've been looking at the game
That I've been playing and I've been staying much the same
When you are lonely you're the only one to blame

I am a servant, I am waiting for Your call
I've been unfaithful so I sit here in the hall
How can You use me when I've never given all
How can You choose me when You know I quickly fall

So You feed my soul and you make me whole
And you let me know You love me
And I'm worthless now but I've made a vow
I will humbly bow before You
Oh please use me, I am lonely

I am a servant, getting ready for my part
There's been a change, a rearrangement in my heart
At last I'm learning there's no returning once I start
To live's a privilege, to love is such an art
But I need Your help to start
Oh please purify my heart
I am Your servant

Shared 'Hallelujah' during Church Service Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Yesterday at my home church where I lead the praise sets we shared a new song by Brad Reynolds. I have really been enjoying Brad's music off his CD, In the Real World, and in fact purchased one just last Friday.
Yesterday, the praise band shared with the Forest Park congregation one of my favorite cuts called, Hallelujah.
Hallelujah is a great song that can remind the Christian to 'rejoice and again I say rejoice!' especially if they are feeling down. You can hear the song (and vote for it) on Indieheaven.com's Fan Fave page!

The folks loved the song.....but get the real deal from Brad.

Please go check out Brad Reynolds' Music at indieheaven.com.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -
Chris Carder has been nominated, and is now a top 5 finalist as "Worship Artist of the Year" for the 2008 Momentum Awards!

Franklin, TN , February 22, 2008 – IndieHeaven.com, the leading organization supporting Independent artists in Christian music, is pleased to announce that Chris Carder has been nominated as "Worship Artist of the Year" in the 3rd annual "Momentum Awards". This prestigious award will be handed out at the upcoming IndieHeaven CIA Summit 2008 conference March 29, 2008. The Awards are in their final phase and Carder is a top five finalist. Voting will END on MARCH 1, 2008!

IndieHeaven founder and CIA Summit director Keith Mohr states, "It's important to recognize and applaud the efforts made in recent years by artists who are independent. By providing them the recognition they have earned, we hope to increase their platform and awareness. There are many independent artists who are doing an incredible job with their music and most importantly their mission. We look forward to the awards being a part of our annual artist's conference." Visit www.ciasummit.com for more information about the Christian Independent Alliance Summit.

"The music and writing style of Indieheaven artist Chris Carder has proven to be unique in the Contemporary Christian music genera and it stems from the fact that he has spent the past three decades traveling the planet sharing his encouraging music. Most agree that Chris' sound is infectiously fun while still being undeniably Christian. When Chris is not traveling, he can be found in Louisville, Kentucky. What Others are saying of the Trust CD. Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

These are just random comments in response to a great review by C.E. Moore and The Christian Manifesto. Go, read and respond....if you like.

  • The album really grows on you. The more I listen to it the more I want to listen to it again. If you really listen to the words you really will be blessed with the deeper meaning that they have. Not as shallow as some of the current fare that is out there. Howard Lisech said this on February 18, 2008 at 11:23 am

  • We love the words and the music on the Trust album, and listen to it nearly every day. Chris Carder's heart for the Lord is evident in his music. The title song Trust is my favorite, but I really enjoy Mile of Sunshine Boulevard and For a Thousand Tongues. Beth Britton said this on February 18, 2008 at 1:09 pm

  • Thankfully, Chris Carder is his own unique creation. A man after God's heart; apparent by the lyrics he writes and sings. I love the sound of his voice, sometimes smooth and sometimes a little rough around the edges. Although Sunshine Blvd is my favorite by far, Trust can truly speak to my heart. Fortunately, I enjoy all the songs on this CD, which is not the case with all CDs I buy. This CD is a definite must have. LaVonda H said this on February 19, 2008 at 8:20 am

  • Chris is an awesome artist. yshwa4life said this on February 19, 2008 at 8:41 am

  • Chris is a man on a mission for God, and his music expresses that clearly. I am a big fan of all of his music, and as big a fan of Chris himself. He is a brother in Christ, and I see big things ahead for him and his ministry. David Wright (Jacob Blue) said this on February 19, 2008 at 9:25 am

  • C.E.: I agree with, and appreciate, your review of Trust. Chris Carder is a wonderful worker for the Lord. I have the privilege of being his sound mix as often as possible, and it is a great place to experience him in full. I've heard him play, whether worship songs or originals, over and over again. And I never tired of it. fully expect Chris to take your recommendations to heart and act on them. He does have the ability to go the next mile. I can't wait to see what it looks like from there! Bob S said this on February 19, 2008 at 12:06 pm

  • Thanks for the review. Chris is a fun guy to work with & be around. I do love Mile of Sunshine Boulevard, and it conveys exactly what we were writing about–in my case, the thrill of going full throttle round a curve, leaning into the wind & enjoying the ride on a well-tuned bike. Never do anything half-way! Frank French said this on February 19, 2008 at 8:16 pm

  • I have known Chris for over 15 years and I believe he has a unique and ordained style. While I love his new work, and love the way he has a subtle but palatable spiritual depth in his lyrics, I also love his work from past albums. I would love to see a re-release of the single "Old Man"! His lyrics are drawn from his life and the depth of his soul. It is hard to truly experience an artist over the airwaves. Trust is a solid delivery in CD format, but a Trust concert is to be experienced!! Mike Hadaway said this on February 19, 2008 at 10:26 pm

Praise at Forest Park Community services Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I had a blast this week leading the praise sets at Forest Park Community Church located in Louisville, Kentucky. We used the Todd Agnew song, "In the Middle of Me", as the 'call to worship' and it just got better and better. One song that rocked my world was the old Vineyard song, "Exalt the Lord". It has echoes in it and tells of God's holiness. It is really powerful. The congregation was wailing on it also....it was special. Here is the set list:

In the Middle of Me by Todd Agnew
    A Thousand Hallelujahs
    by Mark Roach
    We Lift You Up
    by Glenn Packiam
    Kindness
    by Tomlin, Giglio, and Reeves

Music minister, song up for awards
    By Darryn Simmons
    dsimmons@courier-journal.com
    The Courier-Journal
    [Adjusted for accuracy]

Chris Carder isn't a musician with dreams of platinum plaques or sold-out arenas. He has visions of saved souls and packed churches instead.

Carder, the worship leader at Forest Park Community Church off Blankenbaker Road, is up for an award that he hopes will take his career to another level. The 50-year-old Christian music artist who lives in Fern Creek (KY), has been nominated for two Momentum Awards, sponsored by IndieHeaven.com, an organization that supports independent Christian music.
He's up for Contemporary Artist of the Year, and his song "Trust" has been nominated as Song of the Year.
The awards will be handed out at the IndieHeaven CIA Summit 2008 conference on March 29 in Franklin, Tenn. "It feels good" to be nominated, he said. "I've been doing this a long time, and it's nice to know sometimes that your work is appreciated."
Carder has been writing and performing music for 25 years. He started working on music when he was in a church youth group in his native Smyrna, Ga. Soon he was leading worship at summer camps, churches, youth rallies and singles events.
Carder developed a friendship with Mac Powell of the hit band Third Day. He has shared the stage with Third Day and other top Christian artists/speakers such as Casting Crowns and David Edwards.
"I've been a fan of Chris Carder for more than 15 years," Powell said. "As a young believer, I was encouraged so much by his music and genuine love for God and people, and I have the incredible fortune now of not only being able to enjoy his music and ministry but to be able to call him a close friend."
The two began writing songs together, and Powell suggested they record an album. "Trust" is Carder's third album. "It's acoustic rock mixed with praise and worship songs," he said.
Carder came to Louisville and Forest Park nine years ago when he enrolled at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He graduated with a master's of divinity degree in 2000. Ronnie Caswell, the pastor at Forest Park, said Carder has done wonders at the church. "He's brought a whole other level of quality in the music ministry," Caswell said. "We've always been blessed with good musicians, but Chris raised the bar."
He said Carder's biggest asset is his lack of an ego. "Some worship leaders like to battle for recognition and their piece of the spotlight," Caswell said. "Chris is one of the most humble worship leaders I've ever known."
Carder said he doesn't need the spotlight, but winning the Momentum Awards would help get others noticing what he does and that he is available to be used for God's glory. Perhaps he could share at your next event.

Chris is extremely excited about his new project, 'Trust'. It was produced by Mac Powell (of Third Day fame). Chris and Mac wrote most of the songs on the project.

Also, he is really enjoying reading 'Revolutions in World Missions' by K.P. Yohannan. He is also reading the Book of John in the New Testament as well as Susan Luka's 'Detoured: Taking the Road Less Traveled', a devotional book that encourages us to follow the Lord and not the crowd!

Chris has played live in such places as: Atlanta, GA; Las Vegas, NV; Bangor, Maine; Tombstone, AZ; Jakarta and Manado, Indonesia; Santa Cruz and Cochabamba, Bolivia; Baton Rouge, LA; Boone, NC; Chattanooga, TN; Mountain Home, AR; Magee, MS; Louisville, KY; Denver, CO; Liberia, Africa; and more. While playing around the world is a passion for Chris, he really enjoys doing shows in any venue - from the house concert, home worship meetings, small groups, intimate locations, clubs, rooms, halls, to the larger conferences, meetings, week long events, company or religious gatherings, churches, concert halls, and arena events (and everything else in between).

    Carder's Local
This husband and father has a great passion and desire to play out in the surrounding areas of his home base, Louisville, Ky. Places ranging from the Nashville area to the South, St. Louis to the west, Columbus or lower Chicago to the north, and Lexington, Erie, Knoxville to the east. If you live in the Louisville area - you can catch Chris leading worship with a full band two times a week.

    Carder's Regular Tours
Chris also does regular tours which take him through Nashville, Chattanooga, Atlanta, Savannah, Macon, Gainsboro, to Orlando (and many places in-between). He also has regular stops in Maine - particularly his beloved Down East Maine where he can be found at least once or twice a year doing shows and enjoying his friendships (old and new) along the coast. Chris travels to the old west and always loves doing shows in the Tombstone area (some photos should be on his site in the coming days from Tombstone and environs). It's been a while ... but Chris has not forgotten his fondness for singing and being with the people of Western Pennsylvania.

    World Touring
Chris Carder has a deep and life long passion for missions and missionaries. He has played in Africa, Indonesia, Bolivia, South and Central America, Eastern Europe, and more. Yearly Chris tries to make certain that he's booked on some mission field (or in supporting missionaries in some way). This past year his trip to his beloved Cochabamba, Bolivia did not work out as planned - he hopes to be able to visit his friends, support the people, and bring his musical gifts and talents to share there as soon as possible. But, then again - his heart and passion for his friends around the world often have Chris longing for times of music, worship, and singing out in the fields ripe for harvest.
