Catching My Breath Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

In the early morning hours of April 1st, 2012 we received an unexpected and tragic phone call. My 29yr old baby brother had died in a cave diving accident at the springs in Florida. How do you respond to such devastating news? We prayed, we cried, we prayed some more. It's been a very hard journey, but each day is a step in the right direction.

My beloved grandfather, also passed away a month later of stage 4 bone cancer. He had been diagnosed just a month before my brother passed, it was much faster than we all anticipated. My Papa was a great man of faith and strength, his trust in God and his dedication to prayer was such a testimony to us all. Two funerals in two months takes a toll of a family. We are healing slowly - holding tightly to Jesus through it all.

In the middle of all of that we have relocated to Florida, temporarily, as we look for our next church home to serve in Music Ministry.

It has been through a lot of changes in the past 6 months, a lot of tears, a lot of "goodbyes", and a lot of trusting God through it all.

As we wait for God's next direction we'd really appreciate your prayers!

*Pray for God to open just the right door - as we look for a church to serve at in Music Ministry

* Pray for temporary work as we wait for the next permanent ministry opportunity

*Pray for our kids as they deal with transition, and being flexible through it all

*Pray for healing as we deal with the loss of my brother and grandfather (my parents and grandmother especially)

*Pray for God to use us wherever we are, for HIS glory

*Pray for new songs - writing has been hard the last few months

Update for 2012 Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Life has been so busy and exciting - God blessed us last April with Liam Edwin Parker - He will be celebrating his 1st birthday on April 1st! We also have been homeschooling our 6th grader and 2nd grader this year - so my days have been full and blessed.

In music news:

I am now the lead singer for High Avenue ( a local Christian Contemporary band here in the area. I am blessed to raise some praise with some incredible musicians! We have just started getting out and playing/singing - and are working on booking some more opportunities.

I'm songwriting - not ever as much as I want to be - but I am finding places here and there. I was honored to write a song for our church Christmas musical this past year - and got to sing it too! I also got to attend the Write About Jesus Songwriting Conference this past October - and was so encouraged. Pirate On A Motorcycle won 1st place in my group!!

Looking forward to seeing what God has in store for 2012 - I know that He is in control and leading us forward in His calling!

My CD is FINALLY HERE!! Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Over 3 years ago, I took a step out towards a dream and now my dream has become a reality, that has just begun. That reality is a brand new solo CD called "Straight Path". A musical journey of God's faithfulness, His incredible goodness, and His plan. I am literally in tears writing this - in awe of God.

When I went to Nashville 3 years ago and really took a step to pursue my music, I only dreamed of recording a real CD - in a real studio. I think I have said it here before, but I started taking being a singer/songwriter seriously when most are "retiring" from the business. I went to Nashville on my 30th birthday, an age that is "old" according to the music world. But I've never been much for "what people say" - in fact that actually becomes more of a challenge to me.

I had a dream and a vision that God burned in me, and I was determined to pursue it, somehow. Have you ever had something like that in your own life? Singing and songwriting had become more than just a "hobby" - it had become the way I could communicate best with the world. I realized that I could stand in front of a group of people and talk for an hour and still not be able to share my heart, or I could write a song and sing that song for 3 or 4 minutes and share not just my heart - but the heart of God. That was my way of ministering, that was the way I could share who God was with others, and the more I did it - the more compelled I was to continue.

What I have enjoyed most about this CD is the way my family, and friends have been involved. Edwin and I have written the majority of the songs for the project. Edwin plays the soprano saxophone, tenor saxophone, baritone saxophone, flute, and clarinet - as well as the keyboard, and all the percussion instruments. He helped me through every step from beginning to the end. It was so much fun working with him in the studio, even through the many "do-overs". :) Camille and Sebastian have been a vital part of this project as well. They sat through many recording sessions, were my inspiration for "Pirate On A Motorcycle" and "Rosie The Superhero", and even got to sing on the CD! My dear friend Eva Wilson has allowed me to record a few of her songs, and even co-wrote with me and Edwin on "Carpenter's Clue" - she is so talented. Through her I also met Mitch Townley, Stephen Miller (who co-wrote December Rain), and Yvonne Utz (who co-wrote Let Us Pray). These songwriters aren't just people I admire for their writing, but they have become real friends of mine, such a blessing in my life. I am also so thankful for Tery Wilkin, a friend/songwriter that I met at Write About Jesus one year. He humbly sat at our table for those two days and chit-chatted about songwriting and the workshop. Edwin and I just really connected with him as a God-sent-friend. We had no idea that Tery had written #1 songs for the Talley Trio and The Hoppers, a BMI two-time award winner, and was a former writer for BILL GAITHER! When he shared "I Am God" with us, it spoke so deep to my heart, I am so honored to record this song my CD.

More than anything the title song "Straight Path" was a song Edwin and I wrote at a crucial time in our life. A time where I didn't want to hear from anyone else BUT God - and needed to know where, or what He wanted us to do. It comes from Psalm 27:11 a passage another dear friend of mine, Cindy, shared with me one day. This song has become my prayer, at times the only thing I can pray - just wanting the will of God in my life.

I have to tell you that when the dream to make a CD first began, I really had different motives. I wanted to prove to the world who I was and become something I wasn't. Now after 3 years, and having it completed (and this music ministry journey really just beginning) it has evolved into exactly what God wanted it to be. At this point the only thing I have proven is that I am NOTHING without Jesus, and HE deserves all the glory and all the praise. The only thing I want to be HIS child, and serve Him with the desire He has placed in my heart.

I challenge you to not let go of that passion that God has given you. It might look quite different than you had first thought, and it might take longer than you could ever imagine. But God has a plan, and it has been my experience it is so much more satisfying to follow HIS STRAIGHT PATH, than try to make a path on our own.

I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward-to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back.

So let's KEEP FOCUSED on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision-you'll see it yet! Now that we're on the right track, let's stay on it.

Philippians 3:14-16 (The Message)

Changes and Transition Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

There's been a lot of change around my house and my life lately!
I apologize for it being so long to add some news to my page.

Let's see... Edwin and I are currently looking for the next place God has for us. After being at Northridge Park Baptist for almost 8 years, God told us it was time to move on. It was a HUGE step of faith - since we had not "fall-back" plan - but God has been faithful since we have stepped out these past months. We have met some incredible people here in town, and other places and are daily defining who we are and what is it that God has for us. One of the biggest blessings has been the incredible body of Christ that we have found from all over the USA - people we have never met that are praying for us and blessed us financially - we are overwhelmed. We would appreciate your prayers as we continue to seek God's guidance and wisdom.

God has really been opening doors around the area for me to sing, and it has been such an encouragement to me to be able to share in music. I am meeting amazing people who love the Lord. In fact we will be going to Dallas in a few weeks to share in music at Town East Baptist, and are looking forward to it.

My hope is to get a demo together of some of my songs, I so want to have a good quality recording for others to enjoy. Please pray with us as we seek God's guidance on where, and how we can do that.
