2013 9th Hour Update: Seasons change..... Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

9th Hour has been an active and engaging music ministry since 2004. Over the years, God has brought various musicians together for a season. But seasons change....

2013 marks the beginning of a new chapter for 9th Hour. Following God's leading and plan for one's life often creates new opportunities, but it also sends his people in different directions to fufill His plan and purpose. 9th Hour has hopefully been an inspiration for many and an instrument used by God to share the hope we have in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

While 9th Hour's purpose and mission will not change, some of the personnel will. Sometimes hardship and tragedy cause one to rethink life strategies and priorities. Other times some joyous circumstances like finding your soul mate in a foreign country and leaving life in the states behind to get married dictate future direction.

We've been through this before. Some of the members of 9th Hour from 2006 to 2013 will be parting ways to pursue other endeavors, start families and care for loved ones. Dan Allen (9th Hour co-founder, song contributor and lead guitar player) found himself without a job when the company with which he was employed for 30 years closed. He has since started his own business (Allen's Furniture Repair) which has required a majority of time and attention. Mike Allen (drums) has dealt with some serious medical issues with family members that required him to be more available to tend to their needs. Ben Richards (bass/vox) married a sweet heart of a girl he met in El Salvador on a missions trip. He has been residing overseas since the wedding - flying back occassionally for a visit and some high profile concerts. He expects to have all the immigration issues worked out to allow his bride to enter the country sometime later this year. He will be starting a "handy-man" business upon his return to the states and plans on starting a family.

Dee Dee (vox) and I, after much prayer and with the blessing of our bandmates feel that we are to continue on this journey with 9th Hour. We are honoring our obligations (sometimes with the departing members) and other times with other players we are auditioning to fill the vacancies.

We have new music in the works and will be releasing some new songs in the months to come. 9th Hour lives on and will continue to Reach the lost with a musical message of hope in a relationship with Jesus Christ, to encourage believers to be bold in sharing their faith and to sing a new song, play skillfully and shout for joy!

9th Hour lead singer receives recognition Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

(Lee's Summit, MO) - 2011 marked the 11th Annual KCCM (Kansas City Christian Music) Awards sponsored by King Cat Christian Music held at Kansas City's premier Christian nightclub, Club D-Mask-Us. Among those recognized during the program was David Lin, the lead singer/songwriter for 9th Hour.

Lin received mention from his peers for "Best Worship Song" with his composition called "Great Is Your Love" (CCLI #5962815). The 2011 KCCM Awards introduced a new recognition strategy, instead of focusing on typical genre based fan-voting awards, the KCCM Board of Directors unveiled the S.A.L.T. Awards. David Lin accepted the first KCCM S.A.L.T. Award for "Kingdom Labor" for his work with local artists, churches, and ministries; and for his sustained work in coordinating the Nehemiah Festival.

Several other area artists were recognized by the board for their service in Evangelism, Servanthood, Faithfulness and Lifetime Acheivement

Bloom Where You're Planted Tour

9th Hour and Bible League

Many of you know that we have been affiliated with Bible League International for several years. This is a global ministry that we feel is doing very important work around the world to share God's word with people that are so desperately in need.

In 2011, we are continuing our relationship with Bible League International and our commitment to share the importance of distributing scripture around the world. Many of us cannot afford to travel around the world personally handing out Bibles. What we do know is there is ministry with global impact that can be done right here in our own backyard. With that in mind, we are seeking opportunities to partner with churches in the Kansas City area to be a stop on our 2011 "Bloom Where You're Planted" Tour.

Here's what we are thinking.

1. Each month in 2011, we hope to find one church that would host and help promote a free Bible League concert and ministry event to your congregation and surrounding neighborhood.

2. 9th Hour will work with partnering churches to establish adequate promotion, production, and logistics for the venue and event.

3. All of the "Bloom Where You're Planted" 9th Hour/Bible League Events will be FREE admission, and information about Bible League will be presented.

4. A Love Offering will be accepted where 100% of the proceeds will go to Bible League International.

5. The "Bloom Where You're Planted" concept is one that will allow us to come to your church and we will not require any honorarium, travel, or performance fees. It will cost you nothing to get us there.

If you or your church is interested in being a part of the 9th Hour "Bloom Where You're Planted" Tour contacted us immediately to request information or secure your date. You can send us an email or give us a call at (816) 645-1982

(Franklin, TN) - Psalm 147 (aka Strong and Mighty Tower) was released to the Indieheaven Fan Faves charts today. This song inspired by the cited Bible text is a 9th Hour crowd favorite at their live shows! "The Strong and Mighty Tower dance has kind of become a public demonstration of how people really think about God", says David Lin, 9th Hour's lead singer and composer of the song. He adds, "It's a song of proclamation. The "dance" is just a fun way to involve the audience...we cheer at ballgames and think nothing about it. It's nice to see believers that aren't afraid to cheer of God!"

Psalm 147 kind be found on 9th Hour's latest CD released called "Cover Me" and is available online from their website at www.9thhourmusic.com.

9th Hour back @ Awestruck Subscribe To My News (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

9th Hour fans have been hollering for new music and we surely don't want to dissappoint!

We've been at Awestruck Studios recording our new project. We are really excited to share the message found in the songs chosen for this album.

We've chosen "Cover Me" as the title of the project and are working on artwork design concepts. The time in the studio has been very rewarding and we can hardly wait to share the tracks with everyone. "Cover Me" will be a musical adventure that highlights the grace of God in the midst of broken lives. It's about God's faithfulness and promise of eternal life.

Each and every of the twelve original tracks is rooted in scripture and holds a special message for the person that is broken and poor in spirit. There are tunes that will convict. There are songs that will restore and inspire. There are melodies that have you singing along in no time.

We are extremely happy to be working with our engineer and co-producer, Larry Gann again. Our first CD, "Perfect Timing" was recorded by Larry at Awestruck, so it was avery easy decision for us to return to his studio.

We anticipate a Spring 2009 release and hope that you will plan to add 9th Hour's music to your library!

9th Hour @ Awestruck Studios
On August 1, 2008, we went back to Larry Gann at Awestruck Studios to start work on our next project. Larry is recognized nationally as a Pro Tools master and engineer. He is frequently sought out by major studios and labels in Nashville to consult and work on projects and is often recruited for his project mastering and producing techniques. Most important to us, he bathes the excellence of his craft, his studio, and top notch gear with prayer. While there are plenty of good project studios in the area, Larry is a professional engineer, this is how he makes his living and Awestruck is no hobby studio - again we are seeking to bring the "A" game with all that we do. We consider it anhonor and privilege be working with Larry again.

We have a ton of new material and will be trying a different approach in our production. We'll be focusing on a few songs at first and will start with digital releases on our Indieheaven site. Once we get the first three songs down we'll create some "bootleg" EP CD's for those that haven't graduated to the download game yet. Recording new songs will become a routine when we feel that we have the right songs for a full album and they are exactly how we want them we'll send them off for duplication and will commercially release the next album.

The article was about bands that have numbers in their names...there were several mentioned, but only for were blessed with an actual write up and photo. 9th Hour joined the "featured roster" with Buidling 429, Group 1 Crew and 33Miles....who made honorable mention? How about Third Day, KJ-52, Tree63 and U-2....Now what do you think of that!!!

We put together a full day event in downtown Smithville that featured a great Christian music lineup that, besides 9th Hour, included IH artists: Epyphonae, Jason Watson, and Jimmie Bratcher. (other bands included The Wright Choice, Fredrickson Hill, Roy Dodson Phillips, River of Life Worship team, Vineyard worship team, and guitar ace, Lester Estelle, Sr. (father of Lester Estelle, Jr. from Pillar and Brandon Estelle from Superchic[k] - "Junior" joined his dad on drums!)

There we about 1,000 to 1,500 that came through the venue that day! We were blessed with great (HOT) weather and great attitudes. We'll be doing it again next year!

This was the pep rally for the upcoming Nehemiah Fest (Sept 21-23, 2007) at Smith's Fork Park at Smithville Lake. (Smithville, MO). Visit www.nehemiahfest.com for more information!
