Strange and Wonderful Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

So, a little bit about this song.....Strange and Wonderful... It was basically written by Mac Powell, one of the greatest
songwriters in our generation.  He and I
became friends in Georgia in the early 90s.

     He came over
to the house one day and said. "I wrote you a song yesterday."  "What do ya mean, Mac?"

    "Well. I
just asked the Lord to help me write you a song and here is what He gave
me."

I was amazed,
but (being the seasoned writer myself), I thought a few words needed to be
changed...(yeah like who else in their right mind would have ever changed a
Mac Powell song?)..but he said, "We will just use your changes."  He gave me half credit for the song.....but
it was basically his creation.

     I love the
song.  It is my signature song.  I always feel God's presence when I sing
it.  It is a crowd favorite.   Please, check it out on the Indieheaven Fan
Favs....
here:

I put it up on the Fan Favs today and it is sitting at #10
today.  Your vote of 5 stars will be a
great help!  Thanks!

I had the privilege to sing at a friend's funeral today.  Jim Knight and were next-door neighbors and best friends in high school.  He loved life and it showed in his delightful attitude.  He was always smiling.  He loved his children well and it was a joy to hear how they loved him, but more how they love Jesus. I pray my 6 and 8 year olds display the legacy that Jim's (and Scarlet's) children do when they are grown.

I sang these three songs:

Lead Me to the Cross

Trust

10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)

Kid Rode Dirt Bike to Glory! Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Here is a video of a young brother in Christ who grew up at our church. On December 30th, he was riding down in Durhamtown in Georgia......had a crashed and headed onto glory to be with his Savior. Dylan was a minister for the National FCA Motocross. He did more in 17 years than most do in a lifetime. He played in our praise band at times. He was an excellent violinist. He was and incredible kid. I hope and pray God raises a young man as Dylan for my two girls to marry when they grow up!

Great video of footage, some from his last day here

Dallas, Georgia October 29th Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

In the late 80's-early 90's Jacob's Trouble hit the main arena in the Christian market. They were high energy, with a sound that reminded many of The Beatles or The Monkees. I met Mark Blackburn a few years later and through different events began playing with Mark at a few shows here and there. Later Mark produced my second project called Strange and Wonderful. Turn the clock ahead all the years and Mark is the senior pastor of RealLife Church, a new church plant.

This weekend I will be playing at Area 251 on Saurday night. Area 251 is the concert arm of the church. I am excited to be heading to Dallas! Better yet, I will be leading Reallife on Sunday morning during their praise time. AWESOME!

Check out the new church plant if you are around the Dallas, Georgia area. You can find them here.

You Can Call on Him Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I have put up a song at Indieheaven.com on FanFaves. It is called You Can Call on Him. It is a song of encouragmentwherever you are in life. I remember Larry Norman once said, "No one has such a great life that they do not need God." I based this song on his words. Here are mine:

You Can Call on Him
Verse 1:
Some people have all the luck or so it seems
Get anything they want, any desire they dream.
Others seem to fight and scratch just to survive
Do anything it takes to keep themselves alive.

Chorus:
But you can call on Him, no matter where you've been
You can call on Him, call no matter where you've been
You can call on Him.

Verse 2:
Some people never know the touch of mother's hand
Never know her loving smile or the joy it sends
Now, some people live a life we can only dream of
Still there is an emptiness
That can only be filled with His love

Struggle of an Old Man Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Here is a song of the struggle of a new believer and the flesh.

Old Man
Hey there old man, what are you doin'?
Haven't I told you what you're to do
And hey there old man, my life-long good friend
We've been through the years with smiles and with tears

Chorus:
And I know it is true,
Yes, I know it is true
I could never be here without you
And though I look dimly in a mirror
I can see so much clearer
The day is drawing nearer
When I won't be with you

Oh, I love you for the things you do for me
With your ears I can hear, with your eyes I can see
And yet I hate you for so much you have done
You constantly struggle against me
To try to keep me from God's Son

Go (A Day in Life) added to songs Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I just added an old song to my IH page. It is called 'Go (A Day in Life)'. Please check it out.

Silhouette of trees as the sun lays down
Rabbits play chase on an empty playground
Streetlights flicker on, a small town goes to sleep
Little children say, "I pray my soul You'll keep."
Chorus:
And as our lives move on and on
One day the Father will look to the Son and He'll say,
"Go, quickly Son, it's time to bring Your people home.
Go, quickly Son, and bring them home.
Verse 2:
Teenage sweethearts play on her front porch
Silly games that come from young love's torch
Her daddy reads the paper in the den
While her momma tucks her brother in.....
Bridge:
Can't you see the earth as she moans and groans
Water's broke and labor has begun
We got to set our eyes to the sky
'Cause our redemption draws nigh........

Every morning she wakes up to find it in her mind
As the day presses on it's taking up her time
T.V. commercials talk to her say you gotta get away.
The nights here are so wonderful, but they don't compare to the day
Chorus:
She's California dreamin', she's got California in her mind
Gonna be a big star some day, gonna leave all her troubles behind
She's California dreamin', California is in her eye
Don't know how she'll get there but she'll sure have to give it a try
Verse 2:
Her best friend Jill left last Spring, she writes her once in a while
She says the boys are so pretty here, with their pretty smiles
She says it's eighty degrees round here, almost all through the year
The ocean is blue, you know the sky is too, babe you gotta get out here

Verse 3:
She never made it to California, never seen those Beverly Hills
But she's got her magazines, how they make her feel
She saves her money for a rainy day, one day she'll be on her way
Till then she's spends day and night dreamin' of a better life

Home again, new and old music.... Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

The end of Summer is upon us.....2009 is flying right along. I got home, August 10, last Monday night ending a nice little Summer tour. I had a blast sharing the music from the Trust CD and also visited some older songs, some I recorded with the 'Strange and Wonderful' project and others I never recorded. This week I put the songs from the ' Strange and Wonderful ' project up on my indieheaven page. Go check them out.

Thanks for praying for me while I was on the road. I had some really wonderful times, meeting folks for the very first time and also crossing the paths of people I have not seen for many years. One special event was singing at Concord Baptist Church in Clermont, GA which is in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. I sang the song 'Trust' with their orchestra and choir....and it was really amazing. Got to hang out and fellowship with friends I have not seen for maybe 20 years, some who were very instrumental in me coming to know Christ as my Lord and Savior. It was the last date of my trip and really encouraged me. Thanks again for your prayers and encouragement. You are a vital part of this team.

What is next? I am putting together several songs....7 or 8....of old hymns that I have re-arranged and perhaps one or two Indonesian songs I have always loved from my mission trips. That will be out this year. I will keep you posted on that.

Please go check out the new 'older' music on my IH page.

Psalm 30

1 I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, and have not let my enemies rejoice over me. 2 O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me. 3 O LORD, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. 4 Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, and give thanks to His holy name. 5 For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime; Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning. 6 Now as for me, I said in my prosperity, "I will never be moved." 7 O LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, I was dismayed. 8 To You, O LORD, I called, and to the Lord I made supplication: 9 What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness? 10 "Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be my helper." 11 "You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness, 12 That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

Ice Storm, Big Move and the 2009 CIA Summit! Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Lots of stuff happening around here! First of all, Kentucky (and much of the Mid-West) have been under a huge Winter/Ice storm for the last 8 days. It has become the biggest storm in KY history. More people out of power than ever before. But LG&E are on their game. The place looks like a war zone with all the downed trees and power lines. The next few days are suppose to warm up.

Besides all that, my home church, Forest Park Community Church, has been moving to a larger facility for the last month. Check out the story in Louisville's Courier Journal. We should be in by March 1st(ok maybe the 15th).
It has been fun transfering a traditional looking building into our 'home'. But a whole lotta work. Check out our website if you get a chance.

And just to send a little plug out about the 2009 CIA Summit.....I am pumped to go to my 3rd Summit. It is a great place to get encouragement, grab some wisdom and build relationships with other artists trying to change their world for Christ. I will surely be headed down to Nashville, TN at the end of March....God willing, of course!
Check out the news at Indieheaven!

Wow! 2008 has all but disappeared! Good riddance, I say. I wipe the dust of 2008 off my feet and look forward to 2009. God has been a constant help in time of need and I do rejoice in His amazing love that is absolutely unrelenting to pour out His grace on our world....including me.

2 more days and Christmas is here. We are excited around the Carder home. Especially our two girls....Elena, 4 and Keely 2. What a blessed time to be able to love on these little ones. We got the Nativity scene in the front lawn with lights on the house. The home inside is filled with Christmas and we enjoy those Christmas movies.....The Santa Clause, Home Alone (Elena's favorite....she loves the scene with the spider on the guy's face), and my favorite....It's a Wonderful Life.

I hope you have two or more special reasons to celebrate this Christmas.....but remembering to keep the main reason....the main reason, which is God's special gift to us...the Lord Jesus! Happy Birthday Jesus.

Headed to Georgia this week to visit family and friends. Looking forward to getting back to the old neighborhoods and familiar places from my past. My mom is an amazing cook and I have already put in my request for her awesome Lentil Soup. About anything she makes creates a smile in my tummy, so I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving meal with the family. Turkey, dressing, etc. All the trimmings. Probably watch some NFL football and hang up mom's Christmas lights.

I hope to visit with a few friends that I have missed for a while.

Pat Terry has been an inspiration most of my life. He is an amazing songwriter and will be releasing a new project very soon. Check him out and get Pat's project when it hits the shelves! I hope to see him while I am down in Smyrna, Georgia....my home town and where Pat still lives.

Here is a clip of the interview Rick Warren, Lead Pastor at Saddleback Church, held with Senators Obama and McCain. We vote in just a few weeks. The economy has all but collapsed even though there is a 'bailout' in process. The war continues in Iraq and Afghanistan. People have been brain-washed by the liberal media that the only real change is to vote Obama into the White House. But I fear we have continued to focus on the above issues and forgotten the unborn. Hear where the candidates stand in this clip.

I hope we remember there have been over 40 million lives destroyed before they ever breathed their first breath. The womb is the most dangerous place to live in the world today. God help us.

I made a video for a church service at Forest Park Community Church using another song. Later I switched the song out for Mile of Sunshine Boulevard from my Trust CD (2006). The ideas and creativeness came from a gifted lady named Tatum Hart. It is a song of the joy of living the Christian life.

I have psoted it up on my Indieheaven site.....check it out here

Stormy Financial Season Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

With all the events of this week, it's hard not to lose faith in our capitalistic country. And therein may be the problem......putting faith in capitalism and not The Creator.
Institutions, i.e. Lehman and AIG, are made up of 'fallen' men. We are all fallen and greed is always in our midst. Save the hand of God on a person's life that person will inevitably choose from a selfish heart. And in this case, "How much money is enough?"....just a little bit more.

Bill O'Reilly reminds us of how this greed can corrupt. He writes:

"Once again the federal government has left Americans in a precarious state as a terrible storm is passing through the U.S. economy. Like Hurricane Katrina, some folks thought the government could keep them from harm, but, as in New Orleans, things have gotten out of control quickly as bad housing loans have shredded the economy.

Christopher Cox, the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, knew for perhaps a year that some large financial and insurance companies were buying risky housing loans, hoping to make a quick buck on consumers paying mortgage interest. But instead of issuing strict warnings against such irresponsible business moves, Cox sat in his Washington office and fiddled.

Unlike Cox, most investors in companies like AIG and Merrill Lynch did not know that bad loans were becoming part of their portfolios;"... (read more)

McCain unites the Republican base Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I have been pretty excited about John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin, Govenor of Alaska, as his VP pick. She has been a uniting factor for the Republican base in our country. She gave an awesome speech on Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention. Then the next night Senator McCain gave his acceptance speech. The end of his speech, which was much more exciting than what proceeded, was quite moving. McCain showed the lion's heart that he has and encouraged the people of America to stand up and do what is right.....fight for our children's future, Fight for justice and equality for all, fight for what is right for our counrty. Here is the end of his acceptance speech.

I have some great friends who live off the coast of Southern Georgia on Saint Simons Island. It is a really beautiful area and there are some great restuarants around. My favorite since I have been going down there is Mullet Bay. Right in the 'down town' area of St. Simons. Great food, great service, friendly servers and a completely beautiful place/area. If you are down that way, check it out. It is only an hour from Savannah or Jacksonville.

For more information go to their website: http://www.mulletbayrestaurant.com/

This is me on the North end of the island this past July 4th weekend. It was a great time....but I can not wait to get back there. Clicking the photo will take you to Indieheaven.com and you can check out my music and videos!

How do you move? Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

How do you move? When someone has injured you in some way....how do you react? We have the most amazing example in our Lord Jesus.....who always moved in 'forgiveness'...even crying out to the Father while dying on the cross, "forgive them for they know not what they are doing."

It is the tougher road to forgive. We can always take the easier, more traveled road of revenge. That seems satisfying to us...and we feel like we have control of our lives. Yet in the end we will become bitter and darken our own heart. But moving in forgiveness is His way and His load is light. The burden of love is like strength to our bones and health to our hearts.

So, as a believer in the Great Forgiver, who finshed His earthly work complete, I am confident He sees everything in my life and will finish the work HE began in me. God help us all be followers of the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Having a blast at the ECHO CHURCH MEDIA CONFERENCE! There are a host of sponsoring ministries here that assist churches in taking their media ministry to the next level. The conference is hosted by Watermark Community Church. WCC's pastor lead pastor, Todd Wagner, shared a passionate message this morning on how special media is to this generation. His point, of as we are 'doing' the media about the love and kingdom of God we must make sure we are being God's media by living it out, was very powerful. He used a couple of videos to express certain thoughts in his message, including one intertwined with the "Leave it to Beaver" series.

Easter Sunday Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Easter Sunday was a blast at Forest Park Community Church. It was a lot of work to go to the Jeffersontown Community Center in suburbia Louisville, Kentucky, but it was awesome. We started the service off with Rend the Heavens' 'Holy'. That set everything into motion. The morning set featured these songs:

A Thousand Hallelujahs by Mark Roach
He Reigns by the Newsboys
Come Thou Almighty King
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
King of Glory by Third Day

During the offering we had Michaela Riggle share her testimony with us. She has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for autism. She read in the Bible (John chapter 6) the story of Jesus feeding the 5000 with 5 barley loaves and two fish. That gave her a vision to help raise the money to buy the new medicine that would help her young autistic brother.

Our Pastor Ronnie Caswell gave a clear presentation of what the ressurection means to all of us and we concluded the ministry time with Chris Tomlin's 'The Wonderful Cross'. It was a great day to see all the Forest Park church in one building, not seperated by multiple services. Boy Forest Park could use a new buliding!

losing............ slowly Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Well the latest wieght situation is a drop to 263 on Sunday morning, to 264 on Monday morning.....I suppose due to the El Nopalito easter celebration food I plunged into yesterday...chips and all. I honestly thought it would be worse.

This will make it difficult to hit 258 by Thursday morning.....but the attempt will be made. Oatmeal in the a.m., salads, and some sort of baked fish tonight...and maybe again, soon. Low snacks, but something that will keep the fires burning. AND the biggest one, not eating at night! And continue to work out at Ideal Fitness.

My big goal is to be down to 258 by the CIA Summit, which starts on Thursday evening. And then along with that, not go back to poor habits while I am there! I am hoping to reach that goal on Thursday morning.

Sorry to be late on this....I had a lot going on last week. Taxes to do, lots of preparation for the awsome Easter service at the Jeffersontown Community Center....and just a couple of little girls that need attention!

I also put my song 'Refuge(Pslam 62)' up on the indieheaven.com Fan Faves. Click the picture below to get there and vote for it...in the Adult Contemporary category.

Big Loser Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Ok, I am getting on the kick of kicking myself into a healthier lifestyle. I changed my eating habits, got a membership at Ideal Fitness, and have started running. I still struggle with getting the poundage off.

My goal is to lose 70 pounds total and 40 of that by Memorial Day, 2008. I am down about 12, but doesn't seem what I have been doing is kicking the pounds off for the last week. SO, last night I joined The Biggest Loser Club, hoping it will assist in some helpful advise. You know, NBC's answer to American Idol called The Biggest Loser , a show for giant people wanting to lose the wait. The show is in it's 5th season. I have a hard time stomaching all the bluburing on that show, (who says real men don't cry), but if you can get past all that, there is a lot of encouragement and advice one can use if you really want to lose the weight.

I started at 278......wow, 278. And my current goal is 208. That would be awesome. I will dedicate one post a week.....probably Thursdays, to how things are progressing. Keep an eye out.....leave some comments....and go and buy some music!

Earliest Easter of our life! Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Check this info I recieved from my pastor, Ronnie Caswell, at Forest Park Community Church in Louisville, KY. Pretty cool stuff about Easter!

Easter this year is: Sunday March 23, 2008
As you may know, Easter is always the 1st Sunday after the 1st full moon after the Spring Equinox (which is March 20).

This dating of Easter is based on the lunar calendar that Hebrew people used to identify Passover, which is why it moves around on our Roman calendar.

Found out a couple of things you might be interested in!
Based on the above, Easter can actually be one day earlier (March 22) but that is pretty rare.
This year is the earliest Easter any of us will ever see the rest of our lives! And only the most elderly of our population have ever seen it this early (95 years old or above!). And none of us have ever, or will ever, see it a day earlier! Here's the facts:

The next time Easter will be this early (March 23) will be the year 2228 (220 years from now). The last time it was this early was 1913 (so if you're 95 or older, you are the only ones that were around for that!).

The next time it will be a day earlier, March 22, will be in the year 2285 (277 years from now). The last time it was on March 22 was 1818. So, no one alive today has or will ever see it any earlier than this year!

Cool! Happy Easter!

Healing Powers: Bananas Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

The Healing Power of Bananas:

From an article by thisisby.us/ and there is a lot more than what I have listed.

Anemia: High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of hemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.

Blood Pressure: This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect food for helping to beat blood pressure. So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.

Brain Power: 200 students at a Twickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.

Constipation: High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.

Depression: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain trypotophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier.

Heartburn: Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body so if you suffer from heart-burn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.

Morning Sickness: Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.

The Mayflower Compact-1620 A.D. Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

The Truth Project update: Tour 6 is entitled 'History: Whose Story?' and it was another week of eye opening reminders of the truths that get so easily perverted. The big question I remember this week was are you working on your own story, cause if you are, then life is very small and meaningless.
But if you lose yourself into God's story as those in Hebrews 11 did....life is an amazing adventure where you pass on a legacy that will last forever!

Dr. Del Tackett reminded us the Mayflower Compact. You don't usually see it in schools these days in it's original form. Here is the whole story.

"In the name of God, Amen. We, whose names are underwritten, the Loyal Subjects of our dread Sovereign Lord, King James, by the Grace of God, of England, France and Ireland, King, Defender of the Faith, e&. Having undertaken for the Glory of God, and Advancement of the Christian Faith, and the Honour of our King and Country, a voyage to plant the first colony in the northern parts of Virginia; do by these presents, solemnly and mutually in the Presence of God and one of another, covenant and combine ourselves together into a civil Body Politick, for our better Ordering and Preservation, and Furtherance of the Ends aforesaid; And by Virtue hereof to enact, constitute, and frame, such just and equal Laws, Ordinances, Acts, Constitutions and Offices, from time to time, as shall be thought most meet and convenient for the General good of the Colony; unto which we promise all due submission and obedience. In Witness whereof we have hereunto subscribed our names at Cape Cod the eleventh of November, in the Reign of our Sovereign Lord, King James of England, France and Ireland, the eighteenth, and of Scotland the fifty-fourth. Anno Domini, 1620."

There followed the signatures of 41 of the 102 passengers, 37 of whom were Separatists fleeing religious persecution in Europe. This compact established the first basis in the new world for written laws. Half of the colony failed to survive the first winter, but the remainder lived on and prospered.

Yeah ok, Tom Petty wasn't there in person. But after hearing him throwing down a couple of weeks in the Superbowl XLII half-time show his songs were on my mind. Our pastor was preaching about Ephesians 6:10-18 and I just thought 'I Won't Back Down', one of the songs he perfomed at the half-time show, was a pretty good description of how Christians are to stand against the schemes of the devil. So, our praise band played Tom Petty's song during the offering. The Forest Park Community Church folks, located in Louisville, Kentucky loved it. Petty is our pastor's favorite artist..

Evolution, the real 'blind faith'! Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

For the last few weeks many churches around the globe have been going through Focus on the Family sponsored The Truth Project. It is a study on the Christian Worldview. It is an excellent study. We, too, are going through the curriculum at Forest Park Community Church.

Last night, we were on the topic: "Science: What is True?" Wow, there was a whole lot of information instructor Del Tackett poured out....with the disclaimer that there is a vast source of info which time does not allow to be discussed. Several evolutionists were quoted and I was reminded of how one-sided academia has become concerning the ongoing battle of Evolution vs. Creation. Here is a quote from George Wald, (1906 - 1997) Professor of Biology at Harvard University.
"The reasonable view was to believe in spontaneous generation; the only alternative, to believe in a single, primary act of supernatural creation. There is no third position. For this reason many scientists a century ago chose to regard the belief in spontaneous generation as a "philosophical necessity." It is a symptom of the philosophical poverty of our time that this necessity is no longer appreciated. Most modern biologists, having reviewed with satisfaction the downfall of the spontaneous generation hypothesis, yet unwilling to accept the alternative belief in special creation, are left with nothing."
And later in the same article he says, "One has only to contemplate the magnitude of this task to concede that the spontaneous generation of a living organism is impossible. Yet here we are as a result, I believe, of spontaneous generation."
From "The origin of life" Scientific American August 1954 p.46

Now, talk about blind faith!
Psalm 53
1 The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good.

Rend the Heavens Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

A short three weeks ago, Keith Mohr, president of indieheaven.com, passed on an up and coming band named 'Rend the Heavens'. I found them over on IH and decided to take a listen. I love their stuff and would like to encourage all to check them out.

Rend the Heavens is based out of Franklin, Tennessee. They have energetic music with great lyrics and powerful messages. This week I introduced their song simply called 'Holy' to our congregation. Here are the words:

HOLY
Verse 1:
Lord, there's a longing in my heart God, Holy
Want to know you as you are God, Holy
Here as I'm hoping like a child, All my dreams will come alive
Dreams to hear the angels singing Holy,
Dreams to heal the sick and see your glory
And You coming closer now I feel, nothing's ever been so real
Chorus:
Oh, and I want to sing from my heart, You are holy
O Beautiful One, I will sing, You are holy
Verse 2:
God, broken Lamb upon the altar, holy,
Want to stare until my life is holy
And You, glowing eyes so full of love,
You are all I'm dreaming of........
Bridge:
Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, You are worthy

© 2007 Aaron Sternke

Awesome song that has you shouting from the rooftops how holy and worthy our God truly is! The congregation at Forest Park Community Church loved it as I do. Go check out Rend the Heavens.

Shoebox at #1 on Indieheaven Fan Faves Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Thanks to the voting, Shoebox has made it up to the #1 spot at the Indieheaven.com's Fan Faves, at the time of this writing. Shoebox was a creation to remind us all of the future we have as believers in Christ. Life may be hard, really hard.....or you can live on easy street. But when we move on.....life is well.....awesome. Lots of people remember their past, like high school days as their glory days. Before too long, they have all this baggage and nothing to live for in the future. I call this baggage a shoebox filled with the stuff. It could be promises of past loves or how we envisioned our life when we were younger...and it just did not turn out like we thought it should. We know that this life is just a glimpse of the one to come...better days are ahead. So, this is a song of encouragement and hope.

I had this song started with a couple of verses penned out. When I went to record in Atlanta, it was just something I was working on. My producer said, "Hey, that's pretty cool. Change the chorus and let's record this song." So, we finished it that week. Take a listen. AND keep voting!

Shoebox
I've got a shoebox underneath my arm,
Yeah, its been draggin' me down way too long.
Filled with empty dreams that never came true
I bet we all have got a box or two.

Chorus:
I'm letting go
Of all the things that are pulling me down
Now that I know
There's so much for me than what's come before
I've done made up my mind
Not wasting no more time
I'm leaving it behind

I'm tired of thinking 'bout what might have been
How I could change my life and live it again
That's just a lie trying to run me down
My better days are all in front of me now.

Yeah ... loved that game! Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

We all heard the last two weeks that basically there was little chance that the New York Giants would be able to overcome the unstoppable New England Patriots machine. You know, the greatest team in the NFL. The greatest offense in history with that playboy Joe Namath type do no wrong quarterback. In the opposing corner, a mild, humble slinger who cherishes not desiring the limelight, but insists on allowing his play to be the topic of the roporters. Eli Manning turned the upset of his life and I enjoyed every last moment of that game!

So, here is one for the underdog who played the best game of this short century. And for sure, New England will now be remembered not for the 18-0 start of this year, but for a task unfinished....being the greatest team of all time. And go figure, it was Don Shula's birthday. What a present for the former coach of the undefeated world champion Miami Dolphins of 1972. Check out last nights game nfl.com
