Musicianary News for March 2015
Dear family, friends and partners in prayer,
I can't believe it is already March! I have noticed as I get older time really does seem to fly right by.

Five years later
On the 19th of February we celebrated my Latvian daughter 13th birthday which makes Liga an official teenager!! Both Mama Maija and I have been joking for two years "Just wait till she's 13", since Liga has shown she is a very independent young woman in the making.

I must admit I got teary eyed at her birthday party. When I first came into Liga's life she was only 8 years old. Gone are the days of the Disney channel TV shows and the pony tail hair.
Replaced now by a new hair style, cell phone, make up tips from her friends and hearing about a "crush" she has on a boy in school. Sometimes I have to pinch myself as I watch Liga transform into this beautiful young woman.

It was also that day that I got to pick up my residence permit from the Latvian government. This was my 5th permit making it official that I have been living in Latvia now for 5 years. Gosh I remembered when this trip was supposed to be for only 3 months.

Thank you for praying!!
In my last newsletter I asked that you keep Striki School in your prayers. Last month we once again had visitors from the department of education. For those of you who remembered 2 years ago they came down hard on the school which caused a lot of turmoil for all of us.
This year not only was the department of education pleased with the changes that were made but they gave great marks for Striki school over all performance.

But I would ask that you would continue to pray for Latvia, the Baltic states and Ukraine. Recently NATO with the help of the United States as sent over 100 US armored vehicles into Riga Latvia.
Army General John O'Conner told Russian news agency TASS the forces will stay "for as long as required to deter Russian aggression."
But Russians See U.S. Presence In Latvia as a prelude to war. So please keep Latvia and the Baltic states in your prayers!!

Good News: New album!!
I have been excited with the possibility of returning to the recording studio in May and recording a brand new album hopefully in time for my USA tour which takes place from August 1st to November 15, 2015.
This album has many songs that I have shared off and on in my concerts and ministry events in the past 25 years, but were never featured on any of my past recordings. Not that I didn't think they were good enough, I had much positive feed back from people wanting these songs. But at the time of planning and recording past albums, they didn't seem to fit the theme or style of the project.
In many ways this album is "All over the map" musically and lyrically. It will be called "Alone With You". More info to come!!!

USA Tour 2015
If that wasn't exciting enough I am looking forward to this year's 2015 "For the Love of Latvia" Mission support tour. This is my way I raise my mission support to continue to live and do ministry in Latvia and through out Europe. What an honor Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I was given the good news that I was the Indieheaven featured artist for the week.
Wow it is very humbling to be notice among so many artist and talented people who I know for sure can do circles around me and in my opinion are much more polished and "high class" then I am.
I am also humbled that the Lord has allowed me to be supported and make a living by singing for Him the last 20 plus years.
Looking back it is amazing the places I have gone, the places I have sang at. The people that I have gotten to meet or even work with and all this happened with out having an agent or management team.
One min I'd be singing in a little country church in the wild wood with 10 people (after driving 8 hours to get there) the next a "mega church" or a concert hall with over 2,000 to 5,000 people. I purposed in my heart a long time ago I would not turn a church down because of size or cost. I truly believe the Lord has honored that.
I have even tasted being a "national" independent artist and at times enjoyed the perks of sharing the time with some "big wigs"
Now at 46 I just sit "awe struck" how the Lord took this "folk singer" who as an ADHD kid was failing school, had no friends growing up, was called every name in the book and told not to bother singing because I wasn't good at it. And yet the Lord gave me 20 years to show them & me, that He could do something with a person who felt like nothing.
So whats next?
Well I still sing and in some weird way I am still supported by my music but now as a musicianary as I serve the people of Latvia & Eastern Europe.
In many ways I feel like I'm starting all over again. Unlike in the states, I'm not known on this side of the globe. So every event I do is very new to me. Now top that off by trying to learn to speak and sing in a different language.
I guess the best way I can sum this up is by using the words of a song my friend/mentor Nancy Honeytree wrote (I changed just a few words)

Oh I want to be remembered
as a man who sang his songs for Jesus Christ
who was willing to lay down his life,
and do His will no matter what the price

I am singing for the deaf man
who can hear about salvation through my song
and I'm singing for the blind man
who can see the light in me and come along

Live for Jesus... that's what matters
and when other houses crumble mine is strong
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
that you see the light in me and come along

There are times when I've been tempted
to turn off this rugged road I travel on
There are times when I'd say "Jesus,
can't you find another guy to sing your song?"

Well I know it's not that I'm the only one
who can sing this melody
but he's chosen me to bless me
and to lead me into what is best for me

Live for Jesus... that's what matters
and when other houses crumble mine is strong
Live for Jesus, that's what matters
that you see the light in me and come along

Musician to Musicianary : A stiring in your heart Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I have been feeling lead to write down my experience of how the Lord changed my heart from being a "Christian recording artist" to a musicianary.

As I sit here in the library in St Gregors I just have to stop and go " Wow"..never in my wildest dream did I ever think I'd be living in Latvia. Or leave the comforts of a life I have known (traveling speaker/singer) and live and love a country that has captured my heart.

Yes it has been a challenge at times to be taken outside my comfort zone in so many ways. And yet my love for the people of Latvia & Eastern Europe over rides my inner insecurities that pop up now again.

I also have to sit in amazement in how many times and in different ways the Lord told me I was called to Eastern Europe, Latvia and that my life would never be the same.

Here is just on example. A collection of emails from April 2009 to the present with a friend from Sheboygan, WI. Looking back on them now, I can only say it was truly the Lord who spoke to me.

As I sit here in my small studio/dorm room apartment in Saldus, Latvia I just have to laugh at where the Lord has taken me or what he has done with me.

For years I was a traveling singer/songwriter, worship leader. Made several recordings that surprisingly made radio play on different stations across America and even overseas.

Back then (between 1990-2004) my goal was to have the hit song or "make it to the big time" and get sign to a major recording label.

Even without a label I found myself on tours, booked like crazy and sharing the stage with well known and undiscovered Christian artist that are now well known. (I have a few of the 'I knew them when' stories)

Between 1999-2003( thanks to "Ricky Martin" hit songs), mainline churches were now interested in booking a Latin/Hispanic Christian singer for their youth groups.I don't how many asked me if I sang or spoke Spanish. I can't do either.

The funny thing was I was no "Ricky Martin" and no way as flashy as he was. In fact he was a pop singer. I am a folk singer.

During that time I kept trying to find my "niche". For a while many thought I was a Children's and or a youth artist and kept booking me for VBS , Kids & youth events. .

Many thought I'd be great for youth thinking I was in my early 20's when I was already in my mid 30's. Again I didn't feel comfortable because musically I didn't fit in.

In 2000 I released "Hymns for the Quiet Moments" which allowed me to reach out to an older audience. But what was funny, the younger crowd seem to enjoy it as well.

It was also the beginning of the Lord changing my heart from a being a Musician to serving Him as a Musicianary. More to follow....

Dear Family, Friends & Partners in Prayer.
Greetings once again from the beautiful country side of Latvia.
I wanted to let you know my news letter blog

http://davidmichaelcarrillo.blogspot.com/

has been updated for February with the latest news, pictures and adventures that have been taken place as I serve the Lord in Latvia.

Urgent Prayer request!

After much prayer and conversations with some trusted friends, I have already begun to work on the paper work to extend my stay here in Latvia. I am working on staying past my original February 8th departure date.

We did run into a major road block. The Latvian government needed a few documents from the US. But as many of you know, a major winter storm has covered a good region of the country making it impossible to ship anything overseas. Thank the Lord they were shipped Thursday February 3rd and should arrive here February 8th or 9th. Our cut off date is February 14th!!

So please pray the Lord will give us favor with the Latvian government to give us a few more extra days. And if you would please pray the Lord would again give us favor with the Latvian government and that the residence permit would be granted. If it is granted, I would stay in Latvia for a whole year.
Learn more in the news letter what has led me to stay longer.

Love & God Bless
Your Musicianary

Dear Family, friends & partners in prayer,
Greetings from a very cold and soon to be a snow covered Indianapolis, IN.

I just stand amazed how January looked so bleak after dealing with Identity fraud (November) canceled ministry events due to snow blizzards (December) & being laid up in bed sick for two weeks the first part of January looking at an empty calender & shrinking bank account & cupboards.

And yet as I found my faith being tested to really "lean on the Lord" during this lean month, ( I know I'm not the only ministry or family that has been in a tight squeeze or pinching penny's)
I am just humbled to once again see the hand of the Lord not only provide for my basic needs, but provide ministry opportunity's and fill up my winter/spring travel season!!!

A Return to Latvia
As I shared in my last newsletter, I have been feeling the Lord is leading me to return to the country of Latvia. I would once again team up with Eastern European Mission Network & pastor Martins & Gunta Irbes. The last time I went (summer of 2008) I was kept busy.
During the day I was the worship leader, music & English teacher for the mission out reach of EEMN for "English Bible Camp" at a school in Striki, Latvia.
In the evening I worked with pastor Martins & his wife Gunta who lined up several preaching & singing events for me. I would later return back to Latvia in October of that same year to share my "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" (living with ADHD) for a big teachers conference in Riga Latvia.

Would you pray about being a mission partner with me?? I would need to raise $825.00 plus international air fare. I have once again set up a special donation account on my web site for this trip. Just go to the "Donation" link on my home page and scroll down to "Donation for GentleWind Ministries Mission Trips".
You can also send a check made out to "GentleWind Ministries International" & on the memo put "Latvia Mission trip" and mail it to

All donation & love gifts given on the mission link or checks with "Latvia Mission trip" goes for that purpose. GentleWind Ministries International is a Nonprofit religious organization.

Praise & Prayer
A big praise the Lord for His faithfulness during the lean time and for opening up doors of ministry events for 2010.
If the Lord so leads, please pray for the following.
1) The Lords anointing and blessing in and on my life for the busy tour schedule ahead of me.
2) That many hearts will be touched by the Gospel through both Word & song.
3) Travel safety both on the road and over in Israel.
4) The Lord provides a newer van for the road, until then, that He keeps my current van running and no break downs.
5) For His leading and guiding as I work on the spring/summer travel season.

Well that is it for now. Feel free to stay in touch with me(Facebook,Twitter,& myspace).

I love hearing from you.

In His Grace

News Update for January Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Dear family, friends & partners in prayer,

Happy New Years!!!

I pray your New Year has been good so far. I spent the last few days of December and the first week of January sick in bed. Believe me it was no fun to be stuck in bed sick and miss ringing in the New Year.

But! I am really excited to see what the Lord has in store for GentleWind Ministries in 2010. 2009 was a very interesting year of new things and unexpected challenges.

2009 High lights

What a blessing to serve the Lord on the road in 2009. The Lord open doors of ministry events for me in, Tennessee , North Carolina , Florida , Wisconsin , Ohio ,

Illinois, New Jersey , New York , Michigan , Pennsylvania & Indiana .

In 2009, I found my self more in the preacher/speaker/teacher role. A good eighty five percent of my events were speaking/preaching engagements for churches and conferences. I would lead worship and share a few songs here and there.

As for the "teacher" role, I was asked by my good friend Laurie if I would be willing to" fill in" two days for a teacher at Herron High school , a Charter school a block away from my home. At first I thought she was joking since the only "teaching" I have done was at church or for the third graders in Latvia . Plus these were high school students and at age 44, I didn't feel I'd be able to connect with them.

I ended up filling in for ten days and talk about being stretched and challenged. I covered classes for Environmental & Anatomy, as well as US History, English, Geometry , Study hall, Concert Choir, Guitar, Concert Band & lunch monitor. As long as I had a lesson plan in front of me I was Okay .If anything my teaching style that the Lord gave me came in handy. Now it's funny to be out on the street and hear "Hey Mr. DMC" from a student who may see me in public.

New Recording in Production

Another "New Thing" that happen in 2009 was getting back into the recording studio and began working on my first full length studio album in ten years.

"Before Your Throne" features 12 songs of praise, worship and story songs ranging in different musical styles.

Teaming up with Steve Dickerson of Audio Integrity, we began recording the vocals & guitars in July while I was on tour in New Jersey . The second half of the recording is being done in Elwood City , Pennsylvania with David LaDuke of the Upper Room studios who will be adding the other musical arrangements.

I will keep you posted on the progress of the recording and when it's due to be released.

The unforeseen Challenges

2009 also brought unpleasant challenges. In November while on tour in North Carolina , several "set backs" happened.

Out of no were my right arm and fingers begun to twitch and shoot this awful pain. I ended having to go to the doctors only to learn I had "ulnar nerve dysfunction". Thank the Lord it did not affect my guitar playing very much. But it was still painful. Currently my right arm is back to normal. Thank you Lord.

On the day leaving for North Carolina , my van (a 1993 Arostar) radiator over heated needing to be replaced. My van is pretty much on its last leg, if not on its last knee being dragged so I can get to my events.

The most recent thing that has gone out is the heater. Trying to drive in a van that acts more like a freezer is not fun at all. I believe my recent cold was due to my 4 hour drive back home in a blizzard freezing with no heat. One big prayer alert I have is, we need a new van asap!! Or funds to at lest get the heater fixed.

Speaking of funds, financially GentleWind Ministries was hit with a few major blows.

While in North Carolina in November, GentleWind Ministries became a victim of identity theft. This happened while using the ministry debt card at the gas pump in Raleigh . Unknown to me Raleigh had reports of several gas stations being "bugged" so that when you slide the card at the gas pump, a mini chip that was stuck in the slot can read your card and get all the information off your card.

I didn't become aware of this until I went online to update the account and was shocked to see the account was empty! Who ever captured the information went on a joy ride throughout Ohio & Indiana pulling money out of the ministry account.

It was a head ache to file police reports and play telephone tag with the bank, creditors and detectives. By the first week of December, my bank was able to resolve the matter. But it was still a mess trying to work with all the creditors and so forth to get back on track.

If that wasn't bad enough, December which was booked full with dates ended up having four cancellations because of major snow storms.

Two cancellations happened as I was stuck in the middle of a snow storm on 1-75 heading to the southern states. The roads were really bad and people were sliding off the freeway. I left home at 11am with sunshine and blue skies. I ended up returning home at 2am with snow falling all around me. Thank the Lord I made it safely back, but it really hit the ministry hard financially.

If the Lord leads it on your heart and you would like to make a donation to GentleWind Ministries, please visit our "Donation Page" on our web site.(www.gentlewindmusic.com)

The Ministry expense link, helps covers operation cost of running the ministry.

The Ministry greatest needs link, applies to the Ministries greatest need (in this case a heater for the van or funds to get a new used van)

Thank you so much for your prayers and support.

What's ahead for 2010?

With 2010 being also a new decade, I am really looking forward in seeing what the Lord has for GentleWind Ministries in the coming years.

One big thing that will happen this year is I will be the guest worship leader for Pastor Bill Gallatin of Calvary Chapel of the Fingerlakes in NY and travel with him for the Israel Holy Land tour. What a blessing!! I will be in the Holy Land from March 3rd to the 14th.

Another overseas trip I am praying about is to once again teaming up with Eastern European Mission Network and returning to Latvia . That trip would take place from June 24th to July 5th. I would need to raise about $825.00 plus international airfare. Would you consider making a donation towards my mission trip?

You can go to the "Donation Page" on my web site (www.gentlewindmusic.com) and go to the "Mission Trips" link.

Gifts given will be applied to my Latvia mission trip.

Dear family, friends & partners in prayer,
ICHE Convention in Naperville, IL
I'm on the kick off of my June/July summer traveling season.
My first stop was at the ICHE convention. (see www.iche.org for more info)
This convention is HUGE!!!! The church that hosting it is as big a football stadium!!!
I am one of many work shop speakers for this convention. I have been asked to share my "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" presentation 4 different times. I am so overwhelmed just by the feed back I have had so far. It is very humbling for me to see the Lord use my life story to give hope to so many families that have special needs children.
The video above is from the convention.
After the convention, I had to do a mad dash to Elkhart, IN to be the minister at a wedding. Talk about being on the the go!!!

No Place Like Home
May was a nice month of being more at home. This has allowed me to reconnect with some friends and get involved with small groups or just sit in the pew and receive from the Lord. It's nice when I can be "David Michael" the person and not have be in any leadership position in church. Many people know me for what I do, but not for who I am. And in many ways I was able to rediscover more about myself when the Lord open a door for me to help out a Charter high school in Indianapolis called Herron High.

From preacher to teacher
My good friend Laurie asked if I would come and sub for a class for two days. Now I have never done that before, the only "teaching" experience I have ever had was doing Vacation Bible School, or working with music students at two Catholic schools in Indy. The most recent "teaching a class" was last year while I was in Latvia to teach English to a 3rd grade class.
Well what was supposed to be a two day event, ended up turning into eight!
In the end I found my self subbing for the Anatomy class, Environmental class, US History, Choir, Art Class, and English. As long as I was able to get a lesson plan a head of time, I was fine.
Known to the school as Mr "DMC" the Lord gave me so much favor with both faculty & students. In fact the teachers began to request me for their class!!! Whats nice about this is the school is only a block away from my home. In many ways it was a nice break from working at my home office and trying something way out side my box & comfort zone. But now its time for me to go back out on the mission field.

On Tour & New Live Worship CD
I am excited about the release of a new live worship CD called "Only By Your Grace" (Live Acoustic Worship 2). Recorded Live at Calvary Chapel of the Finger Lakes in NY, this new CD features songs like "Open the Eyes of my heart" "How Great is Our God", "I Love You Lord", "The Nail in Your hands" "At The Cross"( I Know A Place) and many more, plus a few of my own songs. I'm really excited and hoping to at lest have the pre-release ready for my June tour.
You can take a listen by going to "Only By Your Grace".

Dear family, friends & partners in prayer,
First I want to wish you a very belated "Happy Easter" and hope you had a great Resurrection Sunday with your loved ones.

My Easter Visit
I got to fly back to California to spend my first Easter in 20 years with my family. I was able to catch up with my cousin Monica whom I haven't seen since Christmas Eve 1996 and my good friend Anthony Ping whom I haven't seen in a while since he moved away from Indiana. They ended up being the only ones I would see.

Easter Sunday, while mom and dad are running around getting ready for church, I'm stuck in my old room curled up with the flu!!!!! I was so sick I missed church and Easter dinner with my mom's extended family.
I felt bad. My mom invited all my aunts, uncles and cousins to see me and while they are having a great time eating, I'm stuck in my room wondering if I'm at deaths door!!! I later found out my sister and all her family were sick as well and didn't come either. And Monica my cousin ended up getting the flu after I left.
So this is one Easter I'm sure I won't forget. But mom is already making plans to get me back for another family get together sometime this year.

Nashville, TN, 20 years later Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Wow!
I was surprise by the feed back by those who saw me share my songs. I mean there are people here who can do circles around me , younger, hip etc..and yet they kept telling me, "your very different" I can feel what your singing, its real, its personal, and I can relate to it" (Not bad for an old folk singer, but I also know it's the Lords Spirit that was working in and through me.)
It just hit me. 20 years ago this month, my first album "In the Quiet Moments" came out. I still shake my head to think how a simple recording would launch me off into full time traveling. Of course sadly the
time frame from 1989-1994 were rocky, being very immature, later rebellious, being a prodigal son for a year and a half with one foot in the world, the other on the Word. (by the way, you can't do both so as the Word says, "Chose this day in whom you'll serve")
And Yet I'm humbled by the mercy and grace of the Lord. That in spite of the first 5 years, the Lord still had my album playing on the radio (even though I didnt really do any personal appearance during the 1992-93 time).
But with the help of Pastor Doug Snow, Pastor John Conrad and Jason Ritchie in the late spring of 1994, the Lord got me back on track and before I knew it back on the road full time, this time not looking back but going forward.
And boy what a journey it has been.
20 years later, I sit here in down town Nashville,TN every musicians dream, to play in. Yet this time, I find myself seeking to be in the shadows, then the spot light. had this happen to me 20 years ago, I would have blown it or become to big to fit in the door because of pride...so thank the Lord that in His time, after learning to be a servant and not a ham up singer..when this door open up..I took it prayerfully.
Thank you Lord for the last 20 years of serving you..Lord willing, may the next 20 years be better then the last. I love you Lord!!!

Well I'm at the CIA music conference here in Down town Nashville, TN. Ok I'm a little excited and yet feel so out of place. I don't fit in with the musician mentality..I'm not seeking to make it big or to make it in the music bizz, I'm already serving the Lord full time with not just my music, but preaching and speaking as well.
But, I want to be open and hear whats going on in the CCM world (to be frank I don't care about the CCM world or its goals, its just not were my heart is.)
Tonight I'll share two songs. I'm a little nerves because I don't want to brag or show off nor do I want to be feeling inferior to play in front of musicians that can do it way better then me.
So Lord, give me a heart of a servant. Let me lift others higher then my self. Let me not be jealous of what you are doing in other peoples ministries. Just as you told Peter "Don't worry about John, you follow me", let me keep my eyes on you. And if i can be an encourager to anyone, then let me be your vessel.
Holy Spirit flow in and through me..hide me behind the Cross of Jesus, so thats all they see is Jesus!!
I can't offer life, forgiveness, healing..You can.
Thank you Lord for leading me here. Speak Lord. I'm listening.

Dear family, Friends & Partners in Prayer,
Happy St Patrick Day!!!

Well, 2009 has been a very good year for me so far. I enjoyed my 6 week tour that took place from January 16th to February 23rd.The Lord open doors of ministry events in TN, NC & FL.
If you followed my blog @ myspace.com/gentlewindmusic or my facebook page, you saw how the Lord poured out His Spirit on not only the services but in my own personal life.
In Florida, I was blessed to share at Calvary Chapel of Orange Park, Calvary Chapel of Miami, Calvary Chapel of Gainsville, Calvary Lutheran Church in Apollo Beach, & a special night of music & ministry at my host family Pam Kerstetter at the Andaluica in Apollo Beach.
This was also the tour I saw the Lord provide blessings in ways I could have never dreamed of. As many of you know,my van I call M.V ( which stands for Miracle Van, because it's held together by God glue & tape) started to give me trouble while going through the TN mountains. In fact as one mechanic would say, "If it was a horse, it be put out to pasture by now".
Well it just seem that once we fixed one thing, something else would happen. Yet the Lord provided. In the end I felt like I was driving a rebuilt van back home to Indiana with brand new tires, wires, spark plugs and a gear shifting "what you ma call it" that not only made the van drive smooth again, but gave me the cruise control back that has not worked since July of 08.
Another "surprise" blessing was a brand new classical guitar someone gave me in North Carolina. The Lord also provided financially to were I was able to invest in ordering more books, CD's and supplies for the ministry. Thank you to all who came out to the events and to all who gave to the ministry.

It has been nice to be home the last few weeks. It's rare when I get to sit in the pew at my own home church and just receive.Catch up with friends, or sleep in and not have to rush some were. I am learning that after a long tour, it is wise to take some time to regroup. But at last, time for me to hit the road and get back to the mission field.
On March 25th, I leave for Nashville, TN to attend the C.I.A Christian music conference. I was asked to be present for the Indieheaven awards night on March 28th were I am to be presented an award. WOW!!!! I'll keep you posted on that.
Sunday March 29th, I'll be sharing at Grace Community Church in White land, TN.
Here are the dates I have so far...

March
25-28) CIA Christian Music Conference, Nashville, TN
28) The Momentum /Indieheaven awards night, Nashville, TN
29) Grace Community Church, White land, TN

April (Open for ministry in the Midwest area, IN, IL,OH,WI,MI)

6-28) Open for ministry for the North east states (PA,NJ,NY)

June
4-6) Illinois Home Schooling Educators conference. Naperville, IL

Well that's it for now.Being its St Patrick's day, I wanted to leave you with this Irish blessing. keep in touch, I love hearing from you.

To say I am wiped would be an understatement. The Lord was so good!! I was a guest at Calvary Chapel Miami, were I lead the worship and brought the message for all three service (2 in the morning and one in the evening)
Miami reminds so much of East LA!! The people at the church were just awesome to hang around with.
I was able to hang out with the single group "The Call"..what I love about it was they were there to worship the Lord and fellowship and talk about the Lord. It was in no way a "meat market".
In the morning I shared from Isaiah 43:1-3 and called the message "You'll never walk alone". I had no Idea the impact the message had on people. I had people come up to me over and over and share how the message was timely.
Its great how the Lord timing works!
In the evening we had a longer time of praise and worship and I shared my personal faith story and a few songs. Again I was moved in how the Lord used the time togther.
Well tomorrow will be a day to some what recuperate, got to take the van in again to do a follow up on the repairs and start working booking the late winter/spring season. So much to do!!

Dear Family, Friends & Partners in Prayer,
Thank you for all the kind words, emails, prayer & financial support you have given me the last few weeks.
To bring you up to speed about my van, in North Carolina we had two spark plugs and a wire replaced (which was causing the van to drag slow) I was also blessed by the Forest Hill United Methodist Church in Concord, NC with four new tires!! I did not realize my tires were bare to the medal. My van is currently getting some more work done on it (Lord willing its just a few adjustments that's all that's needed)

The Lord also bless me with two more added events in North Carolina. Two powerful times of Worship and sharing at Calvary Chapel of Huntersville (Thanks Jack & pastor Mike) & Spirit of Joy Lutheran Church in Weddington (A big thank you to Sharron & Pastor Ed).

One big blessing and surprise was after my event at Calvary Chapel, a member gave me a brand new classical guitar with a case. I was speechless! Hand crafted, brand new.
Until 2004, I used to play a classical guitar, but retired it and passed it on to Ryan Zachariah. (Its now safe and sound in Newton, NJ). I have fallen in love the feel and sound of my steel string guitar (also hand crafted) for the past 5 years. But at times missed the sound of the classical for certain songs. I just feel the Lord gave me an added blessing with this guitar. I now feel I have two "kids" in tow with me.

I'm now in Florida were my first stop was at Our Savior Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg,FL.
It was great to share again with Pastor Paul in all three services. I am blessed again to stay with Pam Kerstetter and her family in Apollo Beach, FL during my tour in Florida.
Below are the current dates for the tour and upcoming months.

February
1) Our Savior Lutheran Church, St Petersburg, FL
8) Calvary Chapel, Miami, FL

I'm still on tour,
Have 5 more weeks to go. Been kind of crazy this first week. Van broke down, and needed repairs .
The repairs didn't cost me an arm or a leg (replace bad spark plugs and wires) but it threw me off financially. I didn't have any events after Christmas, so I was living off the savings from my last tour.I also need new tires before I head to Florida. The two back ones are worn out!!!
In spite of the very tight funds (some how in spite of me, the Lord will do what He needs to do)
The Lord has blessed the last week of events. I have had many touched by the worship time and the sharing of the songs "Trust in You" & "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made".
This weekend I will not only lead worship, but preach and do concerts.

One out of the blue surprise that has happen yesterday, was after my sharing at Calvary Chapel of Huntersville, NC a member from the church gave me a brand new classical guitar with case. Its so new I'm afraid to touch it! It's has a great sound. I will use it sparingly. I have gotten used to my steel guitar of 5 years because it has traveled with me in the last life changing 5 years I have had..so it will be my primary guitar.

I have found myself "grieving" inside. It has hit me as I have found old former friends I used to hang around with (most still live in Portland, OR or CA) via facebook, myspace..they have moved on. Married for 10,15,some almost 20 years with kids now grown. Or the friends I had here in the Midwest or Southern states, they have moved away or moved on with there relationships . It just hit me..wow..I'm a lone now...The world I knew is gone. The people that were apart of my life for years are gone. Ryan Noll who has been my friend for over 6 years is the only one that is left. But even that can change since he is a daddy and has kids to raise.
I wonder what 2009 will hold. Who else will I see leave. And who will be entering my life..and who will return..and who will be staying. Its like a soap opera. Actors come and go once a story line begins or ends...I wonder what "story line the Lord is writing for me for 2009. And the "actors" who will come, go or stay as its played out..I guess well "watch what happens"...

Life on the road #1: Tour Update & Prayer Alert Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

To say the last few days have been exciting would be an understatement.
On January 16th (also my parents 44th Wedding Anniversary and my sister and her husbands 10th) I kicked off the beginning of my 6 week tour at the U Turn 4 Christ Ranch in Greeneville, TN. What a blast to lead worship and share my heart and music with the men and women who are rebuilding their lives in Jesus Christ. Pastor Steve has such a heart for those who's lives have been greatly effected by drug and alcohol abuse.

Next was Horizon Christian fellowship in Charlotte, NC. Again the Lord moved greatly through the worship service. Many were touched by the song, "Trust in You" and "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made". It was good to see pastor Terry again after 4 years. I was also able to pick up an extra event at Calvary Chapel in Huntersville, NC on Thursday January 22nd.

Yesterday (Jan 20th) you could feel the excitement in the air every were you went!!! I was able to catch up and have lunch with my long time friend Angela Connell who works for Morning Side Assisted living home in Concord, NC.
Angela set up a afternoon concert for me for the residants of Morning Side.
It was such a blast!!!
Not only did I do a lot of selections from my Hymn CD, but they really enjoyed "Mike & Mary" my version of "Jesus Loves Me" "Let the Words of My Mouth" and I shared the story how I wrote the song "Trust in You" and how I was asked to share it in Littleton, CO 10 years ago. I closed our time together with"Amazing Grace". The staff were awh strucked and would later shared with me they have never seen the residants so glued to a performer before or sit still. In fact after I was done, they didn't want to leave!!! Again the Lord moved in away that even touched the staff!!!

Prayer Alert!!!
Today (Wed Jan 21st) I took my van into the auto shop. On my way through TN and to NC, I notice my van was dragging, in fact it sounded like I was driving a putt putt car!!! If that wasn't enough, water was leaking, but inside the passenger part of the van!! I kept smelling burnt wood..when I got to my hotel in Charlotte I notice that the floor were the passenger seats would be was soaking wet and very hot!! As I lifted my suitcase and guitar, steam rose from the floor. What was burning was my guitar!!!
I'm waiting to hear back from the mechanics. I don't know what needs to be done or how much it will cost. Please pray the Lord will provide the funds.
Next Wednesday I head down to Florida for a full month of ministry dates. I'll keep you posted!!
One good news is a member of Horizon Christian Fellowship is letting me use there car for my whole time here in Concord, NC so thank the Lord, I'm able to get to the events that are booked here in NC.
I know the Lord is in full control.( I got that in my head, I just need it to get back down deep in my heart!!!)
Feel free to write me email:gentlewindmusic@yahoo.com or call me 317-513-7677 I love hearing from you!!!
God Bless

Dear Family,Friends & Partners in prayer,
What a year 2008 was!! I'm still shaking my head as I thank the Lord for such an awesome, power pack year of ministry and traveling!!

The Lord open some major new doors for me as He has been having me move more in the area of preaching & speaking and leading worship at pastors conference, teachers conventions,Churches, Christian Schools and Colleges.
My travels in 2008 took me to California, Florida, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Minnesota,Tennessee,Kentucky, Ohio,
London, Berkshire,& Windsor England, Saldus,Strakee & Riga Latvia, and of course my own state of Indiana.

I'm enjoying having some down time right now in Indiana. It's nice to be able to go to my own home church and just sit and receive and be David Michael the average person. My home church never lets me get a big head and always keeps me grounded in spite what great press release or achievements or awards I may have gotten.
Speaking of awards, I was notified by Indieheaven.com in Nashville TN that I am to be a guest at the the 4th annual CIA Christian Music conference and I'm up for my 2nd Momentum Award from CIA & Indie Heaven. I won the first Perseverance award in 2006.
You can learn more about the conference at CIA Christian Music Conference .

This year I start my traveling/touring in the Southern Eastern States from Jan 16th through February 25th. Here is what we have so far. I still have some openings to come share at your church, Christian school or events.

By the way if you have a face book account, feel free to add me as a friend. Just enter my name David Michael Carrillo. I have been amazed in how many long lost friends I have been able to reconnect with after 15 and 20 years.

You know its also hard to believe that this year is my 20th anniversary of the release of my first album "In The Quiet Moments". Released in March of 1989 and featuring Wendy Fransisco of "Wendy & Mary" fame, I could never have imagine that this simple recording would receive heavy airplay or launched "GentleWind Music Ministry" now "GentleWind Ministries International" and have me start touring full time.

Of course the ministry has changed dramatically in the last 20 years. Back then all I did was lead worship & did concerts. Now preaching or teaching at a worship service or speaking, writing a book and doing workshops at conferences & conventions have now replaced doing concerts at coffee houses and concert halls. The one thing that has not changed is leading people in praise and worship and sharing in a few songs that may lead into my sermon or workshop presentation. What an honor to serve the Lord.

For the past few years I have been asked if I was going to be recording anytime soon. The last full studio recording that I did was "Hymns for the Quiet Moments" (Which also featured Wendy Francisco) and was released in October of 2000.

Other recordings like " "For All that You Are"(2006) & "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made"(2007) are mostly live concert recordings with a few new studio recordings, and "Pilgrim Progress"(2007) is a best of collection with two new studio production songs.

There are a few possibilities to do two recordings this year.

Lord willing, one would have me travel to Crack N Noon Studios in Colorado and work once again with Wendy Francisco. " A Return to the Quiet Moments" would feature the praise and worship songs that I have written in the past 10 years.

Another possibility that has presented its self would have me travel to New Jersey and work with producer Bart Conrad to record some of my favorite praise and worship song that I have used in worship services the last 15 years.

David LaDuke of the Upper Room Studios in Ellwood City, PA and I have also been talking about working together on a adult contemporary album. This recording would be very different from any other recordings I've done. Most likely 2010 would be the goal for this one.

Well that's it for now. Sorry it was a little long. By the way check out two videos I just posted. One is a Happy New year greetings and the other is my recent interview on Wish TV news 8 in Indianapolis, IN. (GentleWind Videos)

Feel free to email me gentlewindmusic@yahoo.com I love hearing from you.

God Bless & Have a great New Year!!

GentleWind News Update for November Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Dear Family, friends and partners in prayer,
First of all I want to say a deep hearted thank you for those who prayed for my recent overseas trip to England and Latvia in October.
The Lord did more then I could have ever imagined.

In England,
I was the key note speaker for "Christians in Education" and had two hour and a half meetings. The first one I lead in worship and shared my personal story about the struggles I faced growing up with learning disabilities, and ADHD. The second meeting I did more of a workshop of the signs and challenges a person with ADHD faces.
Both meetings were Spirit lead. In fact Mr Dalwyn Attwell who booked me for the event was moved to see fellow teachers open up in worship and "let their guard down.
Many teachers came up and shared there own stories as well.
The following two events were just as awesome. I was the guest speaker/singer for the New Covenant Church in Bracknell, England on Sunday night. It was a wonderful time of praise and worship and personal sharing. Monday I was the guest for a Christian school. The teachers mouths pretty much 'dropped' as they were surprise to see 100 kids that are normally talkative and wiggly, stayed glued and quiet during my sharing time. Of course it helped to have songs like "Jesus loves me" & "Let the Words of my mouth" with hands and feet motion to start off with.

In Latvia,
I was on the go pretty much stepping off the plane. Within a few hours I was spending time with the Ambassador of the United States in his home in Riga, Latvia. He is a Christian and holds Bible studies at his home every Wednesday. What an honor!!
Thursday night I shared my testimony and a few songs for a group of Christians going through the "Alpha" course. Friday planned for the conference and Saturday and Sunday,
was at the conference were I conducted two ADHD workshop (both classes were filled with standing room only!!) , sang and spoke at the general assembly & preached and shared in song at a Lutheran church between all that!!! Talk about busy.
I was blessed to come back home to Indiana and have a few days down time. Now its back to the office side of ministry as well as back to the road.

Here are the dates of were I'll be in the next few months. Please pray for them and if you can, come on out and say hi.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, for praying for me for my ministry events this past weekend.
I had a very busy Saturday, Sunday and Monday of engagements.

Saturday:
Shared two sessions for Christians in Education. The first was a blend of praise and worship, and my testimony inter mixed with songs. The second was more of a workshop about living with ADHD with my personal insight of how it effected me.
I wasn't prepared for the positive and heartfelt feed back got from the teachers who attended .
Many shared about some of the students they know who struggle with ADHD or learning disability, some even shared there own personal stories about dealing with peer rejection that still effects them as adults.
Mr Attwell one of the sponsors of the event and who booked me, shared how he was deeply touched to see the teachers able to freely worship, open up and be touched by the Holy Spirit.
He shared with me that out of all the ACTs conference he has been to, this was the first were he felt the Spirit refresh the people. Right away I was asked if I was coming back to the U.K.
The meeting was in this old church build in the early 1700's and in the very heart of London.

Sunday:
In the morning I was able to go to worship , sit and receive at New Covenant Christian church which later that night I was the guest worship leader/speaker. Again the Lord moved and refreshed the believers at New Covenant. I was deeply touched by the heartfelt feed back from the people. And again I was asked if I was coming back to the U.K.

Monday:
Did a chapel service at Trinity St Stephen Christian school in Windsor (right by the Queens castle!!!!) The teachers were shocked that for the whole half hour the kids which are normally giggly, wiggly and talkative at an assembly, were 'glued', quiet and respectful to this old folk singer. Of course it helps when the old folk singer is just as hyper as they are and has songs like 'Jesus Loves Me','Let the Words of My Mouth' and 'Nothings Impossible with God' which has a lot of hand and feet motions.

Well today is Tuesday,I got to sleep in (boy did I needed the sleep) do wash, pack and leave early Wednesday morning to Riga,Latvia for another weekend of ministry. On Saturday I will again be sharing two workshops for 300 teachers both Christian and non in Riga. Some people from YWAM will be there as well to share about human trafficking that is going on among the young people. This will be interesting since most people speak Latvian and I most likely will need a translator. Sunday is wide open right now, but knowing my friends Martins and Gunta who I have worked with during my summer trip to Latvia, they will have me busy one way or the other.
I look forward to sharing what happen in Latvia. I'll update you when I get back home in Indiana which will be on the 21st. Until then please keep me in your prayers.
Love

Dear Prayer Partners & Close friends/family,
I wanted to keep you in the loop during my time here over seas in the UK & Eastern Europe. You all played an important role for me when I was in Latvia during the summer.
They always say be 'prayed' up before, during and after a ministry trip. Now I know why!!
On the day that I left:
1)My close friend Ryan got news that Sherri's mom,Robbin (Sherri is the mom of Ryan's children, Kamran and Ryanna)was taken to the hospital and after a few test found out she has lung cancer. This has taken everyone by surprise since Robbin seem to be fine and in good health the week before.

2)My other close friend Anthony just found out his roommate, Barney is going to have to have a biopsy of his kidneys. They will probably start him on chemo next month. They finally figured out that he has a disease called IGA, which is genetic. It is causing proteins to attach to his red blood cells. This is causing a lot of scaring on his kidneys. He may need a kidney transplant if the chemo does not put it into remission. He is not takng it well.

Lets keep both Robbin and Barney and their families in our prayers as well as Ryan and Anthony who I know feel helpless at this time.

Well if that wasn't enough already, I almost didn't make it to the airport!!! My ride to the airport at the last minute couldn't make it due to unseen events from their end. As the clock ticked away I calmly called the taxi and rushed to the airport.I know the Lord was with me otherwise I'd be a mess and a frantic worried person, I was even surprise how calm and polite I was with the taxi driver who was going the wrong way to the airport.
At last I was on the airplane heading to London England. Smooth sailing..And so I thought!!! I was sitting in the middle of a 5 row aisle when we hit a strong turbulence that shock the plane and my nerves and some were in the process I knocked over my full cup of diet coke right into my lap!!! My neighbors on my right and left just looked at me as diet coke flooded my tray table and formed a 'water fall' on to my lap. My face must have turned 10 shades of red. I sat there wet and soggy till it was ok to get up. Thank the Lord I was wearing dark blue jeans. Other wise it would have looked like....Well you get the picture.
Well today is Friday, my pants are in the washer and I'm rested up.
Please keep me in prayer for tomorrow as I present my 'Fearfully & Wonderfully Made'(living with ADHD in story and song) to a big group of teachers for the UK. I'm doing two seasons. The first is the musical part were I'll share my personal story mixed with some songs.
The next will be the workshop presentation. Sunday night I'll be doing a service at night. I'll update you by then and let you know how it went.
Thanks for praying for me. Please feel free to write back.
I love and n grateful for all of you.
In Jesus

Ok. I'm really really excited as I get ready for my two week of ministry in London and Brekshire, England & then Riga, Latvia.
I'm pretty much already packed!! Been packed since Saturday. I have been busy making sure I have enough CD's and books for this trip since I will be sharing about my life with ADHD.
This past Sunday I preached at Cross & Crown Lutheran. It was the first time ever that I didn't bring my guitar or sing. It was a little weird, but the Lord did tell me back in June of 2003, that I would be speaking more and singing less. Of course on this trip I will be doing both.
So Lord,
I ask that you would fill me with your Spirit. May I speak boldly about how you have been my strength during the hard times of my life while growing up with ADHD. And thank you Heavenly Father for using an old folk singer like me to preach and share your Gospel. What an honor it is. And thank you for allowing me to live a childhood dream. May my life honor You.
In Jesus name Amen.

Dear Family, Friends and Partners in Prayer.
Sometimes I don't know if I'm coming
or going!!!There's even times I forget what state I'm in.
I just got back from sharing at a week long pastors conference hosted by Calvary Chapel of the Fingerlakes, NY for the North Eastern states for the Calvary Chapel fellowships which I am apart of. What a blessing and honor to lead fellow pastors and ministers in praise and worship all week.
I was also the guest worship leader for both Sunday morning and evening service.
It was a nice way to end a very busy month of September which started out in the states of Wisconsin & Minnesota for a week and half of ministry events. My first stop was at the Upper Room Cafe House in Sheboygan, WI were we recorded the concert for a possible new concert CD. Next was Crete Reformed Church in Pease, MN, North Side Christian school in Blaine, MN, Calvary Chapel of Bemidji, MN & Calvary Chapel of Grand Rapids, MN.

I was joined by my good friend Ryan Zachariah Noll for theses events since we both had good Christian friends up in that area we have not seen for about three years.
Ryan pretty much stayed behind the scene and helped me out with set up and CD sales. But we did end up singing together a few songs at Calvary Chapel of Grand Rapids, MN. We have not done ministry together since the summer of 2006, so it really cool to share together again.A big thank you to our Sheboygan "mom & dad" Kate & Randy & the Sohre family in Princeton, MN who opened up their home for us for a week and a half.

Next was a whole week in Illinois(September 14-21st) in the Palos Heights and Tinley Park area. I was blessed to share at several churches , Christian schools and share again at Trinity Christian College. It was an awesome week of ministry!!!

Do you remember how I shared with you that I felt the Lord was going to open new doors for me overseas and take me places I've never dreamed of? Well not only has the Lord bless me with a recent summer trip to Latvia, or a fall trip to both England & Latvia, but for the upcoming winter season I will be joining Pastor Bil Gallatin & Pastor Scott Gallatin of Calvary Chapel of the Fingerlakes, NY and go with them to Holy Land !!!! I do have a prayer request for my good friend and inspiration in ministry, Nancy Honeytree.
On September 25th Nancy's mom, Mary Henigbaum went home to be with the Lord. Nancy was able to fly down to North Carolina and spend time with her mom and two older sisters Cathy & Jane. Nancy shared with me that it was a blessing to be with her mom as they prayed and sang together as a family."It was a glorious time to spend with my mom and to be with her as she went to be with Jesus". Nancy asked for prayer for both her and her extended family. I would also ask for you to keep Ryan Zachariah Noll in your prayers as he started a new job over a week ago. He loves it and is looking to finally reach some goals he's set for himself.

Well thats it for now. Feel free to write. I love hearing from you.

I'm still not able to update our web site since the main hard drive is being worked on. But I am looking to upload some pictures from my Latvia trip on a share site and when I do, I'll give you a link so you can see how beautiful Latvia is.

I do want to take this time to ask if you would keep my mom and her family in prayer. On Wednesday August 6th my older cousin, Joey age 54 went home to be with the Lord. This is the first of our cousins, in fact when talking to my other cousins, we had this weird feeling of "wow, he was one of us".
I wasn't able to go to the service, but I was glad to hear that another of my cousins,Melisa Frye who I have not seen in about 20 years has been working hard on rebuilding her life after many years away from the family. So please keep her in your prayers.

Well that's it for now. Feel free to write me back. I enjoy hearing from you.

Latvia Update July 5th Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Dear Family, Friends and partners in prayer,
At last I have some time to sit down and update you with all the great things the Lord has been doing here in Latvia. To say I have been busy would be an understatement.
Heres a quick recap...

From June 27-29
Fri...We had a full day of training for the English Bible camp.

Sat..Sight see Riga (the Capitol of Latvia) and learn about the history about Latvia including the darkest time for them when they were under Nazi Germany and Soviet control. I was greatly moved to learn about the loss of freedom and how churches were closed down because the Soviets were so against God, that they outlawed Religion in all forms.
Some of these churches ( some build in 1220 AD !!) were turned into wear houses skating rings or dance clubs. Thank the Lord for the many Grandmas and Grandpa who shared their faith to the generation that would grow up being told "there is no God".
Latvia has only known freedom for only 15 years. It truly is a mission field. There are many hearts that don't know what to believe or why to believe after being told..there's nothing to believe in!!!

Sun... Pastor Mark, Pastor Roger and I very busy with two worship services and concerts back to back and at two different churches. One over 200 years old and another 150 years old (which they consider a young church!!)
In all four events the Holy Spirit was strong. And even though I could not speak Latvian they felt in their hearts what I was singing. I did learn how to sing the song Ôh the blood of Jesus"'in Latvian (thanks to Nancy Honeytree for the influence to learn another language)
They loved it!!!! I had them sing with me and so many were moved to tears as we simply shared about the gift of God through Jesus.

Mon-Fr- During the day I pretty much had a full plate. Not only was I to do three English classes for my 3rd grade class, I was also in charge of the worship music for the opening assembly that happen everyday, but I was also the much teacher for another three classes as I would teach them the songs we would do at the end of the week.
We had a great closing service on Friday which included singing, speaking and drama, (oh yeah I had to teach my kids to do the skit David & the Giant)
Now tell me if this doesn't wear you out..at night we were just as busy as we did personal ministry to some of the teachers.

On Wed I did a Praise gathering (I don't Like using the word concert'') at this 440 year old church. Half the time I was trying not to cry as I sat and played my guitar in the front of a church that made it through the dark years of Soviet control and now once again it is a house of worship.
The church was full...they wanted me to preach as well. I shared from Mark 1:40-45.
In the front row were Gypsies..a group of people who are not looked upon highly and many don't trust them. They were dark skin like me..and seem glued to every move I made.
During the worship songs, I saw people stand and raise there hands and cry..now remember most don't speak English, but the Holy Spirit can translate...
They wanted me to do an alter call (Lutherans are not known for Alter calls) So feeling lead of the Lord I gave one...I was unprepared for the floods of people that came up for prayer!! I had my Lutheran pastor friends come up and be prayer warriors. For many of them this was a new thing. So while I played softly people kept coming up for prayer..it was a powerful service time!!!!
Afterwords I was presented with many roses and people wanting to have my picture with them. The group of Gypsies came up and hugged me and repeatedly said to me.."Your one of us, your our brother!!!" And all gave me a big hug!!

Well today is Saturday, Its rest and wash day ( I got to sleep in till 9am!!) Tonight I sing and preach at a youth gathering.
Tomorrow I share again at a Lutheran church that's 300 years old as well as do another Praise gathering.
Then Monday start back home to Indiana. Iïl get back July 8th real late
Please keep me in prayer!!!!
Love

Dear family, friends and partners in Prayers,
greetings from Saldus, Latvia my home base for two weeks s I'm doing "ministry, music and missions" here and in Riga, Latvia.
My flight out here was very long. Left Wednesday morning and got in Thursday afternoon. Talk about jet lag!!!
Besides doing the English Bible camp during the day, they have me doing three worship services & six concerts in one weeks time.
I have enclosed the news letter I was going to send out before I left the states, but as you'll read, before I left Indiana, the enemy really tried to ruin my spirits. Praise the Lord he loss!!!
Please keep me in prayer. And follow my travels in my blogs (found below). I'll be able to keep you up to date that way.
Well got to go. By the way we are 7 hours ahead of Indiana's time so as I'm writing this at 3:30 in the afternoon, it is 8 am in Indiana, 5 am in California. So by the time my mom and dad are having breakfast, I'll be having dinner.
God Bless & keep me in your prayers!!

Dear Family, Friends & Partners in prayer,
Well here we are the week I take off for my first over seas trip for the year (England is in October).
You would think that I'd be ready for the spiritual attacks that comes before a great adventure. I don't know how many of of my other friends who have done mission ministry have told me me to be "prayed up" and be ready for anything the enemy throws your way.
Well last week anything that can go wrong did!! The final "blow" was having my main lap top "crash". The hard drive (which is only 11 months old) just stop working. It wouldn't boot up. In fact when I took it to Steve our handy computer doctor, he couldn't even get it to work.
So now he is going to try an idea that Lord willing will work. If it does, he will back up all my files and we'll get a replacement hard drive. If not it will be some what costly to do "data" recovery. The good thing is all the really important documents (bank, contacts, sermons) are on a flash drive and are never on the hard drive.
The bad news is my web site and all my pictures from the last three years of people, and places I've been to are on the hard drive. So if I lose those....It will be a great lost. From one person to another ALWAYS BACK UP YOUR FILES!!!!!!!!!
The one good thing is I still have the older lap top to get this letter out to you. The bad thing is unlike my 100 gig lap top, this 6 gig is slow and at times tries my patient .
OK...now for the good news,
I leave for Latvia this Wednesday!!!!!! I am really excited in what the Lord wants to do while I'm out there. During the day, my team mates and I from Cross & Crown Lutheran will be teaching English to students. The host pastor has also lined up additional ministry events for me to do. I have enclosed a recent email that they sent me. Please keep these exciting ministry events in your prayers!!
"
Dear David,
IтАЩve set up four тАЬconcertsтАЭ for you. IтАЩm trying to be sure that you have time to fully participate with the ELC. You will be here two Sundays. Martins will be leading services at our church in Riga the first Sunday and in Saldus the second Sunday. He has asked Pastor Mark to preach the first Sunday and Pastor Roger to preach the second Sunday. We would also like you to sing a few songs during the worship service and then give a 3- to 45 minute evangelistic concert afterwards at both churches.

The service in Saldus will be, we hope, a culmination of the English Language Camp. We will invite all the children with their parents to church. You will also be speaking and singing at the Saldus churchтАЩs youth group on Saturday, July 5. This is a group the older students from the ELC could become involved with. The youth group is preparing for a national Youth event at the end of August. They have set up a program to help the youth prepare their hearts to receive more from the Lord at this event. So they have asked me to tell you that their theme for that evening is тАЬForgiveness.тАЭ ThatтАЩs such a broad theme, I figured you could do something with it for about an hour. Remember, that includes time for translation. Pastor Mark may also be speaking, but I havenтАЩt arranged that with him. There will also be time for questions and fellowship. These are very musical young people and have their own band.
The fourth concert is with the gypsies one night during the week.
I spoke with the man who organizes the Christian teachersтАЩ conferences in Latvia and he would be happy to have you come here in October, since their conferences are in October as well. He just hasnтАЩt set a concrete date yet. IтАЩll try to set up a meeting with him while you are here. His name is Peter Simoilich. (IтАЩm not sure about the spelling.)
If you have any more questions, please write.
See you Thursday,
Gunta

I am also still needed to raise an additional $1,500 to cover the expenses of being out of the country for 13 days.Even though I am allowed to bring my CD's to "sell" at some of the events,I may end up giving many away as gifts.
If you would like to make a love offering to help with the ministry expenses, please go to "Ministry Support". Any and all gifts are greatly appreciated.

I do want to take this time to ask for prayer for two dear friends of mine.
On May 18th Ryan Zachariah Noll's beloved step mom Terri Noll passed away & on May 31st Angela Connell's father William Connell passed away. Both unexpectedly. Ryan has been able to go up to Toledo, OH and spend time with his family. It has been hitting him hard now that he's back here in Indiana.
For Angela this has become a "bittersweet" moment as this is also the time her son Jordon Connell Graduates from High school and heads off to College.Papa Connell as they would call him, would have been very proud of his grandson.
Please keep these two in your prayers as they go through the grieving time.

Also please pray for my mom's family and for my older cousin Joey. He has been battling cancer in his mouth and has been going through treatment. Joey was a big guy, now they are telling me he's at 115 pounds!!! This all happen right after the passing of my grandma Marcy in November, so to say my moms family is overwhelmed would be an understatement.

Well that's it for now. Lots to do before I take off. Please keep me in prayer too!!
Feel free to write I love hearing from you.
Love

Entry for May 18, 2008..Urgent Prayer request!!!!! magnify
My best friend Ryan Zachariah Noll called me this morning to inform me his step mom Terri Noll passed away.
She wasn't feeling good all last week and told her husband Ryan's dad Roy to take her to the doctors. They then sent her to the hospital since her liver and kidneys were shutting down on her. (Terri was a very heavy drinker).
On Saturday (May 17) she refused to be put on a machine. This morning (May 18) she passed on.

Ryan's family are trying to get a grip on what just happen. Last Sunday was mother's day, this Sunday, mothers gone..is hitting everyone hard since this seem to come "out of the blue".

Please pray for the Noll family especially Roy Noll (Ryan's dad) who is very much "numb" and yet must now bury his beloved wife a week after mothers day.
I'm on tour in NJ, but I may have to run back to Toledo,OH for the service. Please pray for Ryan as well as he is on his way up to OH.

My sister Stephanie gave birth to another girl on May 14. her name is Nadia . My sister even had a dream before she knew she was with child that a little girl came up to her and told her she was her daughter and her name was Nadia. Sure enough after the doctor visit she found she was with child, and sure enough it was a girl.
Mom and baby are doing fine. I found out by getting an email with the photo's. I'm still on my NJ tour and I'm not sure when I'd be heading to California. To be truthful, I don't care for California and would like to have my parents visit me in Indiana. But thats another story.

Oh well got to get ready for a busy weekend of ministry. Tonight I'm looking at go seeing the new C.S Lewis Movie: Prince Caspian ....But first..back to the office work for the ministry!!

Update from my NJ Tour Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

My NJ tour is going pretty good. I'm staying with my good friend pastor Gordon Bruan who pastors at First Baptist Church in South Plainfield, NJ. The church founded in 1792 is still going strong!!
I have been very moved by all that has been happening in our world with Flood, earth quakes and Tornado's..so many lives lost..a lot of them were children. China was hit very hard with a 7.9 earth quake..they fear that 50.000 lives will be lost!!!
As a born again Christian my view is this..the Lord is still on the throne and we should not be surprise of all that is happening. Jesus himself told us to be looking for his return and many signs will happen before. When he returns ??? Only the Father knows...BUT..Jesus is coming soon!!!!

The last few weeks, I have been the listening ear to several people in ministry who have come close to throwing it all away. Some are in high profile ministry and people would be shocked to hear what I have heard. Many years ago, I most likely would have been judgmental, harsh and cold to the ones who stumbled in sin, or what ever....BUT....in my 20 plus years of ministry, I have not been with out err or fault. When i went through my "way ward" season the last thing I needed was harsh judgment..or "holier then Thou" looks .. I knew i was in the wrong....I was trying to find my way back home....The Holy Spirit was already convicting me..to the point I was very uneasy and could not live with out the blessing of the Lord or His people...yes the Lord may use a person to be a "Nathan" and in gentleness and meekness go and present the truth..(God's Word will do all the pointing out or as i have said..it will offend you first before it can mend you..) The church father Augustest..put it this way " You Word oh Lord has wounded my heart , and I love you"...
In my case the Lord didn't need me to be the Nathan, these people came to me and on there own shared what was going on deep in there heart. He just needed me to listen and be there for them.

I have heard from a few of them and they seem to be doing a lot better..some..know that there are choices they will have to make that will effect there lives and ministry..for the better..My heart goes out to them.

Well this was not what I had in mind..but I guess it was in my heart....back again to office work for the ministry. Whats great about having a lop top..your office goes with you.

The scene of grief is being played out in three country's. China were a 7.9 earth quake hit with out warning taking 12,000 lives and burying another 18,000 under a major city rumble.
In Maynamer a Cyclone hits taking 20,ooo lives....
and in USA tornado's sweep across the Midwest destroying homes, towns and lives!!!
Lord be with all who have lost loved ones, be with the rescue people..be with the people who suffer and hunger and lost everything!!! Lord have mercy on them all and send your peace and comfort..

Dear family, friends and prayer partners.
I just wanted to update you real quick in what the Lord is doing here at GentleWind Ministries International.
This week I'm meeting for the first time with my team mates that I will be going with for my Latvia mission trip. I am really excited about this up coming trip from June 25th to July 7th. There is so much to do before I go since I will be teaching English to students. Wow what would Mrs Hughes my English teacher think about that.
I was asked to come an hour early to meet with the mission pastor who is in town from Latvia. There may be a possibility I may stay a week or two longer to do some concert ministry in the region. I'll keep you posted as time goes on.

Prayer partners please continue to pray for the finances to come in for both the trip and for the finances needed to cover being away. A big thank you to those who have given towards my mission trip.

The England trip is a go!!!!! I just got the word that I will be the keynote speaker for the up coming ACT (Association of Christian Teachers) 37th conference held in the heart of London England.
I was asked to share my personal testimony and workshop about living with ADHD & the Lord's faithfulness (you should see the publicity pamphlet they sent me.They are going all out on this!!!)

My friends at Wisdom Gates ministries in Michigan were kind enough to take new publicity pictures for me to use for both my web site and press kit. They are also in the middle of edited my new DVD called "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made"(The Song, The Interview & The Story) I am really excited about this new tool of ministry. It is a mixture of my resent personal appearances on the Harvest TV show and at Trinity Christian Collage in Palo Heights, IL. My deepest thanks to Mama Skeet, Israel Wayne, Mercy Hope and Glory Dawn Savage who have been a big blessing to me and my ministry.

Prayer partners, please pray that the Lord provides the funds for me to order more of my own books for this trip. Unlike the CD's that we are able to keep in stock, it cost $6.50 per book and that can get very costly .The ACT conference expects around 1,500 to attend.

Well I just wanted to keep you updated. On my Photo album page you can see some of the high lights from my March events. Please pray for my upcoming Ministry Dates as I'm forming my NJ tour for May.
Praying for your ministry as well.

In His Grace

Dear Family, Friends and Partners in prayer
At last after being away a whole month on the road in Sunny Florida its time to get back in the swing of being home in Indiana and catch up on the office side of the ministry.

Florida Tour Recap:
My time in Florida was awesome!! I was invited by Paul Smith and the Via de Cristo community to be the keynote speaker and musician for their 25th VDC anniversary gathering held at Our Savior Lutheran Church in St Petersburg. The following day I was the musical guest for all three worship services at Our Savior. Then off to Orange Park FL were I did a concert for Advent Lutheran Church that evening.

Monday morning I did a chapel service for Light House Christian School that is geared for students with ADHD. WOW!! Can you imagine a room full of 100 plus hyperactive students from 6th grade to 12??? They not only got into the music, but you can see the looks in their eyes that they dig this 42 year old adult who was in front of them and knows exactly what it is like to be in their shoes.

My last event was February 27th at Harvest Assembly of God in Lake land, FL. It was exciting to preach and sharing in song in the denomination I was raised in.
During my down time,I stayed with my good friends the Kerstetter in Apollo Beach. I love walking through the neighborhood that was right off the beach. Every house there were mansions!!! It made me wonder what walking the streets of gold will be like in Heaven.

The biggest blessing for me in Florida was seeing again after 30 plus years Jeff Steinberg and his lovely wife Ellen. I first saw Jeff back in 1973 when I was 8 years old.His ministry had such an impact on me that I told my mom I would travel all over and preach and sing for Jesus just like Jeff. Well by the Lord's timing I have been doing that now for the last 20 years. What a blessing it was for me to say "Thank you" in person to the one who started the fire of God in my heart as a small boy. We had a great visit over a big hearty Italian meal.
You can see highlights from my recent trip in my Photo Album .

Latvia Mission trip Update
I am really excited about this upcoming mission trip which takes place June 25th through July 7th.I have already began to work on the homework that Eastern European Mission Network sent me to prepare myself for this cross culture adventure.I even downloaded a program that will teach me phrases like "Good morning", "My name is" and so forth in the Latvian language.

Would you please pray about sending an offering to help financially with this trip. The airfare cost is $1300 (and is due to EEMN by March 20th)
I am also raising the normal $1500 of expenses that I need to raise to cover 2 weeks of ministry. The $725 that was needed for the housing/food expenses has already been taken care of by the Lord through some wonderful prayer partners who gave towards my Latvia Mission Trip.To them a big THANK YOU & BLESSINGS!

If the Lord speaks to you about helping with any of these specific goals, we have set up two ways you are able to make a offering. GentleWind Ministries has set up a special pay pal account were all offerings goes just towards the mission trip.My friends at Cross & Crown Lutheran (whom I am going with to Latvia) has also set up a special account for those who would like to send a check. To make a offering either by pay pal or check and to learn more about what I'll be doing in Latvia, please go to Latvia Mission Trip.

Harvest TV Show This Friday
This Friday on March 14th at 9am Eastern time, I will be a guest on the Harvest TV show which airs worldwide!!! (See Harvest-TV for times and locations)
I will be interviewed about my new book and CD Fearfully & Wonderfully Made .
(We will be taping the song "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" to be aired at a later time.)
I'm really excited in how the Lord has been opening up new doors for me to share my story.Recently I was featured in a few newspapers in Northwest Illinois and have started to have people contact me to share my story for conferences. Lord willing I will be heading out to London England in October were I was asked to be the keynote speaker for the Association of Christian Teachers annual conference for all of the United Kingdom.

Sunny Florida Tour update Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Hey everyone,
I am really enjoying my self in Florida. I have been out here since February 8th and fly back home to Indiana on February 28th.
This past week I stayed in Orange Park, FL in a hotel. In many ways it allowed me to catch up on sleep and catch up on emails and web site projects for the ministry.
I am now staying with my good friends the Kerstetters who live in Apollo Beach FL. The Kerstetter's (Pam, Scott & Lorain) was the family I stayed with for a whole month when I was on tour in Florida back in 2004. They live right off the beach and have again open their door for me to base my self here for the rest of my stay.I always enjoy staying with families. You build great relationships that way.
So for the next week and a half I will be praying, seeking the Lord, working on music, sermons, as well as setting up events for the late winter, spring and early summer seasons ( March-June)
I'm also preparing my self for my Latvia trip from June 25th through July 7th. I may stay an extra week or two to do Gospel Concerts and worship services. It really seems that the Lord wants me there. I have been surprised and overwhelmed of the mission donation that has come in so far. The mission trip cost $725.00 plus international airfare and cost to cover expense here at home. With in two weeks Cross & Crown Lutheran (the church I'm going with for this trip) and GentleWind Ministries International both received two big mission donation that covered the $725.00 part!!! PRAISE THE LORD!!!!!!!
Were now waiting to see how much the flight will cost. So once I have that, plus the expense needed to cover the home front I'll let you know the remaining needed so we can together pray that in. A Big Thank you to all the prayer partners & financial supporters who have given to this up coming mission trip. You are a blessing to me.
One of the ways I'm getting ready for Latvia is, I'm going through online training with Eastern European Mission Network so I can be prepared for my trip and Spiritually in tune with what the Lord wants to do there.
I also down loaded a software to learn simple phrases in the Latvia languages. I'm hoping to translate some of my simple songs (Jesus Loves Me, Let the Words of My Mouth, We Are One, How Awesome are Your deeds, and Oh the Blood of Jesus) in their language so I can sing them in both English & Latvian.
I'm really really excited!!! If I could I would be jumping around like a little kid, BUT I'm not at my home to do that so I got to hold it in..
By the way I do have some open dates before my February 27th event at Harvest Assembly of God in Lake Land, FL. If your between Orlando and the Tampa, Brandon St Pete's area, or any were of I-75 in Florida, feel free to contact me. Now booking for the North Eastern States (PA,NY,NJ,)

I'm staying in a great hotel room in Jacksonville, FL.
Prayer partners lets pray in more ministry dates for Florida. I know the Lord can do that. When I left for my NJ/NYC tour in December, I only had 4 dates. By December 5th I ended up with 15 ministry events!!!!
I'm looking at using this time to set up ministry events for the spring and summer season. My good friend Donna who has helped with my bookings in the past is still recovering from the heart attack she had a year ago.Donna has had to take time away to recover. Please keep her and her family in prayer. So now I once again have the balancing act of booking while being on the road. (believe me it can be a challenge!!)

I"m looking forward to my two over sea's trip. The first one is my mission trip to Latvia and the second one is to England. You can learn more about those by going to "News Update"
I am currently raising support for my mission trip to Latvia. I have just been asked if I would consider to stay a week or two longer and do some Gospel concerts and worship services. Unlike here in the states where I receive an offering to support me, a mission trip is were I raise the support to not only go, but to cover the cost back here at home.
Would you please pray and consider giving to this awesome mission trip the Lord has open up for me? I believe the Lord has got some awesome adventures for me in Latvia. But I know I can't do this by my self with out you prayer partners and support.
To learn more about my Latvia trip go to "Mission Trip"
If you feel lead of the Lord to give towards my mission trip we have set up a special donation page on the web site."Donation for Mission Trip"

Well that it for now. I look forward to sharing how my Florida tour went. Even now the last 6 events (yes I was really busy this past weekend with 6 ministry events ranging from conferences, worship services, concerts and chapel service.) The Lord moved in power!!!
Please keep me in prayer and feel free to write me. I love hearing from you!!
In Jesus

Dear Family, Friends & Partners in Prayer,
I hope you are having a great 2008 so far. It seems like the Lord has got a lot of great things for me on this my 20th anniversary of serving the Lord in ministry.
You'll now find all of your updates on our web site

In our News Letter for January, You'll learn about our new name, goals, and some exciting over seas mission trips that are being put together.

In our Ministry Dates area, you can see where I'll be sharing at and what tour's are being put together for 2008.

Learn more about my Mission Trip to Latvia in June of this year. I am now raising support for this exciting trip with Eastern Europe Mission Network (www.eemn.org) and my friends at Cross & Crown Lutheran Church in Indianapolis, IN. You can make an online Donation towards my mission trip.

Check out some of the pictures from my recent tour in NYC, my visit with both my families in California & Ohio and my picture with Irish singer, Moya Brennan of the group Clannad who I got to meet on tour while in NYC.

Well that's it for now. Today I'm heading down to Kentucky with my first ministry date for the year. It was nice to have a few weeks off from the road. But now it's time for me to get back in the field. The Harvest is ripe for the Gospel.
I enjoy the many emails and letter's I have gotten from you concerning the passing of my Grandma Marcy. On behalf of my family, thank you!!
Please pray for my good friend Ryan Zachariah Noll. On January 7th of this year the house he was living at burned down. He lost everything!!!! A good friend of mine has taken him in. Ryan pretty much has to start all over again with nothing.
let's pray that this will be a time for him and the Lord to grow close.
Again, Thanks for your prayers and financial support. You are all a blessing to me!!

California Dreaming Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I'm writing this from my old bed room here in Whittier CA as I'm visiting my parents for New years. A lot of dreams were born in this room that are now reality's in my life.
It was in this room I dreamed of singing and preaching for the Lord. It was in this room I played "air guitar" before i knew how to play one. It was in this room I pretend to be on tv singing or doing an interview. I stand amazed that these dreams that the Lord planted in my heart began to unfold in my 20's 30's and now my 40's.
So I start 2008 in the house were the dreams began only to return to my home Indianapolis IN were they are reality's. But new dreams are not only being dreamed, they are unfolding even as I type. I look forward to 2008. I wonder what I'll be writing Dec 30th 2008 a year from now.
I guess we'll just wait and see

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I'm in Detroit Michigan now. I was able to get out of NYC right before the big snow storm. My last week in the NJ/NYC was very eventful and fun. Again I was booked back to back with ministry events. My last two stops was on Wednesday. In the morning I did a chapel service for Eastern Elementary Christian. I had soo much fun with the kids which ranged from K to 8th. I hope the Lord opens more doors with schools again. I got out of it in 2000, since people thought I only did "Kids ministry" and I was getting labeled a "Children's artist". I knew there was more to my ministry then children's music and thats when I released the Hymns CD and broke away from the box people wanted to put me in.
On Wed evening I was a guest at my good friend pastor Rob Lewis church in Gibbsboro NJ.
I have known Rob since I was 13 years old. Since 2006 we have done ministry events together when I'm in NJ including the June project and Delinco Camp.
Thursday on my drive through PA, I go to stay with my good friends the LaDukes in Elwood City, PA. David LaDuke was the producer for the songs "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" & "Wounds & Pain" . I played him my new songs for him and told him how I want to record two CD's. One a praise and worship and the other an adult contemporary I want to call "Crossroads & Turning Points". He loved my new songs (and he be one who tell me the truth if they were bad!!!) So we are really thinking about getting started in 2008. Now we need to raise the funds for it.
Tomorrow I'll be in Vassar, MI sharing at Calvary Chapel. I'm in Roseville, MI staying with pastor Mike Amo and his family. We had a great ministry event last night at his church.
Well got to go and get ready for the snow. Back home in Indiana, they got hit hard. So its coming up this way.

The Moya Brennan Concert in NYC Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I got a real extra blessing from the Lord this week. Not only has He filled my Christmas tour with dates (When I left Indiana on November 24th I only had 4 engagements, I ended up with 15!!!) But I got to see on of my favorite Celtic artist. Moya Brennan!!

Moya is known as the voice of "Clannad" and "The First Lady of Celtic Music". She is also the older sister of the Irish singer Enya.

She was playing at the Irish pub in Mid town NYC. Since I was in the area and I don't know when the Lord is going to open a door for me to go to Ireland, I figure this may be my only chance to see her. Well I ended up getting there really early. (4 hours before the concert) I got to watch them practice (I was the only outsider with them) and after words got to introduce my self to her and her band. Now I need to let you know, this is a real Irish Pub. I mean the workers are from Ireland with strong Irish accents. And if you remember I pick up accents "a wee bit" and found my self sounding like an Irish man. (well I am part Irish). Of course when I first met Moya I was tongue tied and found my self mixing my new found Irish accent, and Spanish together. ( I don;t even know Spanish!! I kept saying "Se'a (yes in Spanish instead of yes). Moya put me at ease. She reminded me when I first met Nancy Honeytree (aka The First Lady of Jesus Music) who was very down to earth and made you feel like an old friend you haven't seen in a long time. What was more funny Moya was interested in my music and ministry and asked me about my preaching and worship music. (Moya is a Christian as well and has made music that has "cross over" into the Christian market) her warmth really made an impression on me.

I also got to met Cormac DeBarra who is her Harpist. We just seem to hit it off as though we had known each other for a long time. He reminded me so much of my cousin Alan. I got to sit in the front row and was in for a real treat of Celtic and Christmas music. Moya's band which also included a top notch Guitar player, a fiddle player, & keyboardist. There voice's blended so well together recreating that smooth, tight harmony, ambient and sometimes 'haunting" sound that Moya and Clannad have become known for. Moya was very real with the crowd, and many who were there were from Ireland. So when ever she sang or spoke in Gaelic, they went wild.

I was invited by Cormac to stay after the concert. That was really fun. Sitting around the table with her band while Moya was meeting and greeting her fans. One guy brought her a big bag full ( I was there watching this) every CD, Book and cassette or poster she made and asked her to sign them all. And she did!!! Cormac and I talked for hours about life on the road and compared the ups and downs of doing music as a living. the bottom line?? Doing music as a living is not for the meek of heart!! And be ready for surprises, good and bad!! I ended up staying with them till closing time (2am) and helped them down to there van. Moya and I once again got to talk and she gave me this big warm hug and not only thanked me for coming, but said she really does hope to see me again. Well I know, with God, anythings possible!!! Who knows ,when I first met Nancy Honeytree back in 1996 I thought that would be the one and only time. Now ten years later, she is a very close friend of mine, I serve on her board for her ministry and we have done two concerts together. You never know what the Lord has in mind. You just got to keep following Him because He knows the "Perfect Time" to make dreams come true.

Its Christmas time in the City Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

To say I had a busy week would be an understatement. The Lord has been giving me last minute engagements that is making my NYC/NJ tour exciting and fun.
This past week, I went with pastor Gordon and met with some of the leaders from the American Baptist Church at there region head office. They over see 300 churches for NJ and part of NY.
They not only liked my music ( I shared "What Child is this, Fearfully & Wonderfully Made and He Flew Away),they added me to there region website and alerted other churches that I was in the area and should book me for an event!!! Then on Tue I had lunch with pastor Ed of Crossroads Calvary Chapel were I shared on Wed night. Great people!!
Early Wed morning Pastor Gordon took me to a pastor breakfast were I met other pastors. Because the picture on my website was taken in February and I was weighing 177, they didn't realize it was me at the table (boy 30 pounds less and a short hair cut, really does wonders.) So again more contacts were made as they wanted to know more about my ministry and ADHD.
On Friday and Saturday I was in uptown NYC were I was sharing at Harvest Christian Fellowship and did a street ministry with them on Union Square . Boy that was a lot of fun!! I just sat down around the market place crowd and played Christmas songs. That drew a crowd and we got to share the gospel and pray with people. Today Lord willing I'll head back to NYC and see Moya Brennan (Enya older sister) in concert.
Yesterday (Sun) I got to share at Calvary Chapel of Kearny, NJ. It was a very powerful two worship service. I enjoyed having dinner with Pastor Louise and trying Brazilian food.
Well this week is going to be another full packed week. So today is my only "day off".
Keep me in prayer!!! This Friday I head out to Michigan for three engagements out there.
Blessings

Wishing you the Joy & Peace of the Season.
News Letter for December 2007
Dear Family, Friends & Partners in Prayer;
I just wanted to wish you a Christ filled Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I'm writing you from South Plainfield, NJ as I'm on my "Dawn of Grace" Christmas tour.
This year my Christmas tour takes place in the wonderful state of New Jersey, Metro New York City area, the east side of Michigan and close to home in the Indianapolis, IN area. The Lord has been very faithful as more dates were added for the tour. A total of 15 ministry engagements lined up for this tour and in one month!!! That's a lot since I'm used to doing 4 or 5 ministry events per month.
If you are in any of the area mentioned above or you would like to know were I'll be and pray for me (Believe me, I'll need it!!) For more info

Music for the Christmas season
We once again changed our internet radio station (G.W.R=GentleWind Music Radio),
to a Christmas/worship format. Already we have had so many listeners tune in. I was notified by our internet radio server "Live 365.com" that in 4 days we had a total of 1,000 listening hours logged. That means a lot of people were tuning in and staying tune an average of 2 to 3 hours per listener. WOW!!!
We have added more Christmas music which features artist like Nancy Honeytree, Don & Wendy Francisco, Andy Williams, Johnny Mathis, Enya, Moya Brennan and others. I have also included Scriptures readings for Advent and Christmas and some of my memories of Christmas growing up. Take a listen.
www.live365.com/station/gentlewindmusic
And speaking of music. During this season of giving we are offering all our CD's online for $7.00!!! They make great gifts and are away to introduce others to the ministry of GentleWind Music. I recently had to send more CD's to Indie Heaven which carries our CD's since they seem to keep running out!!!

Photo Album & Prayer Request
On my photo Album page http://gentlewindmusic.com/Photo_Album.html
I have some pictures of my Grandma Marcy Navarro who went home to be with the Lord on November 16th. I wasn't able to fly out to the memorial service, since the service was the day before Thanksgiving and my Christmas tour started right after. But I was blessed by some friends at Church with plane tickets to go see my family in California after Christmas from December 27th through January 2nd 2008.
I would also like prayer for not only my mom's family, but for the family of Angela Connell who just lost their beloved Grandpa to a massive stroke. The Lord called him home on December 4th. Again I'm unable to fly down to North Carolina to be there, but prayer partners I know we can be there in prayer and Spirit. For other prayer needs please go to http://gentlewindmusic.com/Praise__Prayer.html
Looking forward to 2008!!!
I have been sharing with some close friends how I feel the Lord is getting ready to open new and exciting doors of ministry for the New Year. 2008 is my 20th anniversary of serving the Lord in ministry. It was 20 years ago when the Lord began to bring me forth and train me for ministry with the help of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, CA.
Now 20 years later I have a new book, CD & ministry out reach I'm calling "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" (Living for the Lord with ADHD) we have a feeling that Lord is up to something good. Lord willing we will be promoting the book, CD and ADHD presentation along side my other ministry of worship, preaching & teaching.
The last few weeks, I have had so many feed back from people who heard the song "Fearfully & Wonderfully Made" or read a copy of the book. I even had pastor's who at one time didn't see "ADHD as a real thing, come to me after they found out there child was tested and realized it is a real disability with real challenges.
I'm very humbled that the Lord is using my personal struggle and story to reach people in so many ways.
The challenging part for me is setting up events for 2008, while on tour. My good friend Donna has been a big help to me in this area. But due to a heart attack in March and health issues that followed, Donna has had to pull back so she can get better. (Please keep her and her husband Jim in prayer)
So...I'm now setting up for 2008. From January to April, I'm centering on the Midwest & Southeast region which would cover Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, North & South Carolina, & Florida.
You can share the following links with your church leadership or ministry events coordinator.

Well that's it for now. Again on behalf of Moya the cat and myself, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New year.

Great Kick off to my NYC area Christmas tour Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

It is cold out here in South Plainfield NJ!!! It snowed, but that didn't stop people from coming to Church.
Last night Christmas concert was a lot of fun. The coffee house was close to standing room only. A big thanks to the youth from June Project that came up to support me.
Last night I mixed a little of my faith story/memories of Christmas past/ and shared a few Christmas songs and Carols. (In fact it was the first time I ever did Chestnuts roasting on a open fire)
Todays Sunday service I did the Dawn of Grace worship service. It's really neat how the service can be broken down into sections to fit any worship style. In between the reflections, we had a baby dedication and Holy Communion. The church was very full for being it was the first snow fall of winter 2007. (very cold i might add)
Tomorrow I take a day off then get ready for a full week of ministry in Haledon, South Plainfield and NYC.
I'll post the dates this Monday of the new bookings that came in at the last min.
Blessings

Update from my Christmas Tour, NJ/NYC area Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Well tomorrow starts the "Dawn of Grace" Christmas tour for the NJ/NYC area. Even though I have been out here for a week already, my first ministry event was a normal Sunday service.

This week I have been able to catch up on some of the "office side" of the ministry and even get a few more ministry dates booked for December as well as January. Today I'll be updating my web site for Decembers as well as practicing Christmas songs for tomorrows ministry concert. I'm really excited about this years "Dawn of Grace" tour. I have added some different songs and stories that I didn't share last year.

My Internet radio station www.live365.com/stations/gentlewindmusic has really picked up listeners since we went into our Christmas music format. If you haven't had a chance, take a listen. Let me know what you think.

Yesterday I had a meeting with Rick Comicho from Mission NYC. It was an encouraging time as we both shared the "bittersweets" of serving the Lord in ministries that cross over so many denominational lines. I will be doing a mission out reach with him on December 8th in NYC. I love teaming up with other ministry's for the Kingdom.

Well I better get ready for the day. Got my list of stuff of things that need to be done. I hope you all have a great day.

As I write this I humbly ask for prayer on behalf of my mom's family. My grandma Marcy Navarro,(pictured above with me this Summer) passed away on(November 16. I do know that Thanksgiving for my mom and her family won't be the same with out grandma Marcy at the table. Please pray for comfort,& peace for my mom's family especially my Aunt Linda who has been the care taker for my grandma. This is really hard for her and she needs a lot of prayers on her behalf. But keep me in prayer as well.
Speaking of being away from loved ones,
Also pray for our troops who for some, this is the first time being away from home during the holidays and may be hard on them. For the families who's love ones are serving and for the families who are grieving over the loss of their loved ones who gave there lives in service.
Well thats it for now. Got to go catch up on the office work for the ministry. In December I'll have some new pictures posted and other "goodies.
Feel free to write me. I love hearing from you.

She seems to be holding not getting worse or better but remaining the same. Please continue to pray for my mom's family as they find them self in a catch 22. From what it sounds like the family are not sure what decision to make concerning my grandma's well being.
My Sheboygan WI is doing better. We found out that Grandma Hendricks suffered a stroke. She has been released from the hospital this past Thursday and has no effects that she even had a stroke. Mama Katie (my Sheboygan mom) has told me Grandma Hendricks is a tough German girl and is pretty much back to her normal self.
Also a big thank you for those who have been praying for my health, I'm doing a lot better now. Got my voice back and glad to be back on the road again.
Please continue to pray for GentleWind Music Ministry. As I have shared we have had financial 'set backs' due to major van repairs. We praise the Lord who has provided the funds to fix the van, now please believe with me the Lord will provide the funds to help us be good stewards with what he has given us.
In my 17 years of doing this ministry full time, the Lord has always come though.
Possible new DVD coming soon
I was recently at Trinity Christian College in Palo Heights IL were I shared for two days about my Journey with ADHD. Prof Pete Post had me share in his class called "intro to special education" and talk about what life was like with ADHD in school and beyond. My presentation was video taped and after watching it with Donna and her husband Jim, we thought about how many people have asked if I had a DVD about my story. The next step is to take it to David White of Dream media in Greenwood, IN who can add the right touch before it goes into duplication.
Well thats it for now. Thanks for praying and feel free to write me
Blessings

News update for October Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Dear Family, friends and partners in prayer,
I know it's still September as this goes out, but I wanted to get a head start while I had a chance.
I have just finished a long touring season which had me mostly in Wisconsin in the month of May and the the North eastern states (NY,NJ,PA) for the months of June through August with a quick stop for a ministry event in California the last week of August, first week of September. Then back to Grand Rapids MI and Sheboygan, WI for two awesome ministry events.
This past week I was in the Chicago, IL area were I shared at Trinity Christian College for two days and at Crete Reform Church for another two days.
I'm now home fighting off allergies and having no voice to speak or sing with. I have a few days to recover before my next event on Sept 29th and 30th here in Indiana.
My body is pretty much telling me " it's time to rest" so I better listen before I regret what my body will do.

Prayer Partners there are
3 Prayer Request Alerts!!!
1) I just got a call today from California, my grandma Marcy (my mom's mom) is in the hospital and things are not looking good at all. The whole family is at her side. She is on a breathing machine and the doctors are wanting to know how long to keep her on it. My mom and my aunt have to make a very tough decision to make. If that wasn't enough, my Sheboygan grandma fell this morning and had to be rushed to the hospital. They found bleeding on her brain.

2) For a speedy recovery for my health and voice

3) For finances.
The last few weeks our Van has had to have major repairs while on the road. This of course has hit our budget badly. Please pray the Lord will continue to pour out His blessings as we catch up. The money that was spent was put aside for us to re-order more Cd's and books that we need for our travels as well as our operational cost.
If would like to make a donation to our ministry you can go to
Make a Donation link.Believe me any and all love gifts are appreciated as we recover from this "surprise" side swipe to our ministry finances.

On a lighter note,(believe me this day so far has been one surprise after the other) we are gearing up for the fall season of traveling. We are waiting for some dates to be confirm for a North Carolina Tour from Oct 2nd through Oct 18th. After that the next few weeks are close to home which is good. It allows me to be home and involved with my home church during the week and gone just on the weekends.
Late November through December we are putting together my "Dawn of Grace" Christmas Tour for the NJ/NY area. If you are in the states of NJ/NY and want to be apart of the tour, contact us at dmcgwinfo@yahoo.com or gentlewindmusic@juno.com .
I have given the web site another face lift, I found this cool back ground my friend Wendy Francisco used and thought it cool enough to use for my site.
Check out the photo album page, you'll see high lights from my summer tour.
Well better go and take it easy. Feel free to write back. I love hearing from you.
Blessings

At my 2nd home in Sheboygan & Prayer Alert Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Its good to be back at my other home here in Sheboygan WI. After a very busy touring summer I knew I wanted to take a few days of rest and renewal in Sheboygan, which to me has always been my "Cabin in the wood's" or "Cabin get away". It is good to be among friends. I just realized that I have 3 places I call home. Indianapolis IN is my main home, Sheboygan WI is my other home and Kannapolis/Concord NC is my other. What makes it home is there are people that treat me like family. I have several Mom's and Dads in the faith.
Besides taken a few days off, I do have some ministry events. Tomorrow I meet with Donna as we talk about and plan out the 2007-08 touring year.
On Saturday and Sunday I'll be a guest at St John United Church of Christ and Sunday night I'll be sharing at First Christian Reformed Church for a youth out reach. The back home early Monday morning and back to the flow of being back at the ministry office setting up events for the rest of the year and on to 2008.
Prayer Alert
Keep me in prayer.. my van is in the shop, my alternator gave up the ghost so now I have to have that replaced. That is going to hit us hard on our budget since it's going to cost me around $400.00 to replace. I have no choice but to get this done since I need to get back to Indiana and my other events, so please pray the Lord will provide the funds to meet our budget for this month.

Home!!!! It's a word that means a lot to me. Now I'm saying this as I wait in Chicago O'Hare airport for 2 hours waiting to get back home to good O'l Indiana.
I really enjoyed my time with my parents and sister and her family. Even though I was born and raised in California, my heart and soul is now a good o'l Country/City boy from Indiana.
I had a chance to walk around Whittier and see places where I grew up, like my old home church, the school's I went to, i even ran into my special Education teacher Mrs McGee. I have not seen her since 1984. She remembers me and asked if i was still singing for the Lord. ( My parents have kept her up to date on me) I even took a picture of the McDonald's I worked for were the story of the smashed buns and drive thru voices took place.
I have a few days to "regroup" Then Lord willing I'm off to Grand Rapids MI for a ministry event at Calvary Chapel, were I'll lead worship and bring the message. I also got booked in Sheboygan, WI the following week so PTL my September is filled with ministry events.
Now pray for our van, while I was gone a lot of 'mis-haps" has happen back at home. All last week I kept getting a call from Ryan as he was giving me one bad news after the other. Please pray for wisdom.
Well got to go catch my plane.

It is some what "weird" to be back in the city I was raised in. It has changed a lot. New buildings have gone up were homes use to be. Even my parents back yard has been given a new face lift, very different from the one I was growing up with.
I have walked around old stomping grounds. There are very few places that still look the same after we moved here in 1970 from East LA. Even the church i was raised in has gone through a major change. Gone are the alters , pews, choir loft and organ, the stain glass windows and natural wood color, replaced by dark colors, theater setting and a modern look to reach "the seekers".
I have come to face the fact, even though I was born and raised in California, I'm very much a Midwestern at heart and Indiana really is home for me. I love spending time with my family, but I also can't wait to get back to the "Cross Roads of America".
Later today I'll get to see my Grandma Marcy and spend a whole day with her. Well thats it for now. Keep me in prayer, lots to do when I get back home.

prayer & parents Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

From the bottom of my heart, I want to say a big thank you for the many who prayed for me for Sunday. The Lord answered with power!!!!

I very rarely get nervous before I minister but as you saw from my post before, my stomach was tied in knots. Well 10 min before the service I was walking in the back to greet people when in walked my mom and dad "Mike & Mary". Now Renado beach is about 60 min or more away from Whittier were my parents live. So for them to be there for the 9:30 am service means they had to get up early. I was both surprised and shock (people said i had this look when I saw my mom of both joy and "uh oh mom's here i better be good" You see my parents have never heard me preach. You think as a good son I'd send them my sermon Cd's or something. Now i was really tied in knots. Ran to the restroom and said "OK Lord you got to do this.."

As the service progressed I felt a calming and peace come over me. Then it was my turn to preach. All I can tell you was I felt this "power surge" come over me and found a boldness unlike anytime before and preached!!!! I had Lutherans shouting "AMEN" now that has to be the Spirit of the Lord. I shared a few songs and watched the Lord moved among the people.

After words my parents came up and mom gave me this big long hug (OK we both had a little teary moment) "Son" my mom said in my ears, "The Lord answered my prayer, I prayed the Lord would anoint you and empower you with boldness and that you would rightly divide His Word, son through out the whole time you were preaching all I kept saying to my self was "wow" . My dad just looked me in the eyes, he didn't say anything, but the glow on his face and the 'mist' in his eyes said it all , I got the biggest bear hug from my dad (I almost thought i was going to lift me up from the ground!!!) Lets just say it was a "band aid moment" for those of you who read my book.

I was bless again by my parents when they came out last night for my concert. My mom handed me the sermon tape from the morning service since she wanted to make copies and share it with my grandma. Late last night I got to hear the message, I found my self spelled bond as I heard this "Californian/Indiana preacher preach with passion.. I even forgot it was me speaking!!! (that has happen to me at times when I hear my own songs on the radio)

Well today is Monday, I head out to visit my sister and her family for a few days then to Whittier to visit my parents, then back to good old Indiana. Again, thank you so much for your prayers!! You are all a blessing to me.

From the BRONX TO THE BEACH BOY WHAT A CONTRAST!! Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

I Just have to shake my head. A week agao today I was sitting in a small apt in the middle of the Bronx fellowshipping with Solomom Smart from Calvary Chapel of Agape.

Today I'm in this big mansion among many masion in the hill side over looking the beach. My host family were doctors , there kids are doctors (some living in bigger homes up the road from mom and dad). Tomorrow I'll be preaching and singing at a Lutheran Church, were as the pastor has told me, many "well to do" are members.

The one thing I have learned in my 20 something years in serving the Lord in ministry is it dosent matter if you are the have's or have not's..if you dont have a relationship with Jesus Christ (remember its not a religon that Jesus died for it was a relationship he came to restore) what you have here on earth wont' matter, who you have in your heart dose. (Matt:6:19-21 & Matt:16:24-28).

I'm asking for prayer. I was asked to preach tomorrow on Luke 13:10-17, unlike the Calvary Chapels and other churches like them were the sermon is 45 min because there is so much to teach/preach from, The Lutheran's only preach for 15 maybe 20 min. I have been reading over and over the text and there is so much to draw from this text that can go over the 20 min mark. I'm asking that the Lord will give me the right words to preach in the time amount I have. That what ever the Lord want to bring across will come across. Also that I don't become nerveus because I'm in front of "well to do's" people, but rather treat them as the same I treat people who live simply and that is with respect.

I'll keep you posted in how it went.

Like always, the day before I leave for a trip I'm up late packing (It's 1:45 am)
Today or rather later this morning,I have a school Chapel service in Greenwood, IN. Then at 2pm I fly out to California for a ministry event in Redondo Beach on Sunday, then spend time with my sister Stephanie and her family and then my mom and dad.
I'm looking forward to this ministry/mini vacation after a very busy summer tour in the NJ/NY area the last three months. I just got home Monday from the Bronx NY so it will be a major adjustment from going to doing ministry in the city to a church right off the beach.
I got to visit Ryan Zachariah Noll today, he's doing good. People have been asking if we will be teaming up together again. Ryan and I have talked about it, but we are waiting on the Lord for His timing and not ours.
Well got to get some sleep. Keep me in prayer!!

Tour Update number 2 from South Plainfield, NJ Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Well I just finished a whole week at www.juneproject.org in Hamburg, PA with my long time friend Pastor Rob Lewis.
It was a week of just being a servant. During the week, I ended up working along side a team of youth in cleaning up bridges, camp grounds and painting. One team found an old tomb stone date back to 1845. The Police came out and so did the press. In fact we made the front page news over who one the big base ball game!!!!
At night I was blessed to work again with a praise band. I was more of a supportive role and was back up on guitar and vocals, at times the worship leader threw me for a loop and had me lead on a few songs. Now mind you most of these songs I have heard, but never played. Plus the band was made up of very high energy youth that wanted to "wail" so many times I was on my toes!!! I learned a lot of cool songs I can't wait to try on my next ministry concert.
I'm now at First Baptist Church in South Plainfield, NJ. Pastor Gorden Bruan is a good friend of mine who I haven't seen since 2001. I was a guest at his other church right after Sept 11. so the timing was all God's. That was one time of ministry I'll never forget.
Last night I did a closing mini concert for the vacation Bible school kids and there parents, Tonight I'll do a praise gathering/concert and tomorrow I'll be sharing in the morning service.
Please keep me in prayer!!! After that i head up to the Bronx.

Tour updates number 1 for August Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

BOY!!! It has been non stop since leaving Indiana.
On Sunday morning I shared at Calvary Chapel of Richmound County on Staten Island New York. Then right afterwords, headed south to Hamburg, PA were I joined my good friend Pastor Rob lewis and the youth of JuneProject.org.

The June project happens every August. It is a week long mission trip for serveral youth groups to come together and do community projects like painting, yard work, fixing up homes etc. The respones from this trip has been very overwhelming for many of the people in Pottsville, PA who have been blown away seeing 80 youth ranging from 12 to 19 help give back to the community.

My role has been more of the supportive role. During the day I go with a team and work along side with them (yes I get my hands dirty too) And at night I lend vocal and guitar support to the young praise team who leads the worship. Again working with a band that has a lot of engery has kept me on my toes!! It has been a blast to work with them all. I'm learning so many new worship songs that I can't wait to try when I do youth events.

Well I'm here till Friday morning, then off to South Plainfield, NJ for a Fri, Sat, Sun weekend of ministry with Pastor Gorden at First Baptist Church. Pastor Gorden was the host pastor that brought me out after Sept 11 happen to minister to the people and fellow pastor's who were still shocked of what happened.

I'm at the public Library so I better get going. Keep me in prayer and please pray for Moya my cay who most be lonely back at home. The good thing is my friend Nancy Honeytree will be staying at my home for two days while she has a ministry confernce to go to in down town Indianapolis, so at lest Moya will have some company.

Dear family, friends and partners in prayer.
At long last we got our new laptop!!!!! A big thank you to Steve Pressnell who has taken the time to transfer all our stuff from the desktop and set us up with a computer that runs really fast.
My summer tour has been going great! Here's a little highlight about July
The first week I was a guest at Calvary Chapel of the Finger lakes in Farmington, NY.On July 6th I spoke and lead worship for the college and career group. Sunday morning on the 8th, I lead worship for both morning service. Wed the 11th was Communion night and I was asked to lead a longer time of praise and worship plus share a few of my own songs. During the week I used one of the church office to catch up on paper work, make phone calls and return emails. A big thank you to Luise,Sherry and Owen for hosting me for the week. Another big thank you to Steve & Megan for taken me around town and for taking new photo's for me to use.
My next stop was Ellenville United Methodist Church in Ellenville, NY. It was a very powerful worship service. It is always amazing to see the Lord move among the people. After church I headed down to Tabernacle NJ were I joined my longtime friend Pastor Rob Lewis for a week long camp at Delanco christian camp. It was a lot of fun!!! I got to lead worship for the morning service. In the evening I co-lead with Rob as we were backed up by a praise band. I learned alot of new songs and playing with a band (especially when they are way younger then you) kept me on my toes!!!
Then it was back up north to NYC were I did a street outreach with Mission New York in the Spanish Harlem area. I love working with this ministry!!!
My last stop was Calvary Chapel of New Brunswick, NJ were again I got to lead worship and share a few songs. What away to end my July travels.
I got home just in time to do a big concert for the VDC national gathering at the University of Indianapolis, a TV taping, and lead worship and preach at my own home church, Calvary Chapel on the Horizon.
Today I leave again for the Northeast for another 3 weeks of ministry, then off to California.
Below are my current dates. Please keep me in prayer that the Lord will use me to reach others with the Gospel.

Update from Camp Delanco, NJ Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Ahhh bugs, hot weather and camp food. Bring back memories.
I have been on the road since July 5th. My first stop was at Calvary Chapel of the Finger lakes in farmington, NY. I was there for a whoole week as I lead worship and taught at the Collage and career group, lead worship for both Sunday morning service and lead worship for the midweek service. I really enjoyed staying with my host family Luis and Sherry and their son Owen. Steve and his wife Megan were another couple I had a blast with.

During my week up in farmington, I felt like I had a Spiritual retreat for my self. This calvary chapel (which is very big) reminded me of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa Ca. Just hanging around the office (which I'm so great full they gave me an office for the whole week to use to catch up on the office side of the ministry) was a blessing in it self.

They have a powerful radio station and I was blessed to be asked to do a tape radio interview which they aired this past Tue night and again this coming Sunday morning at 10am. They played selections from my Pilgrim Progress CD. We also talked about my new book 'Fearfully & Wonderfully made"( My Christian journey with ADHD) which may be opening more dorrs for me in the Finger lakes NY area. Pastor Tony read the book and asked me to pray about doing a workshop for the Christian schools in the area.

My next stop was Ellenville United Methodist Church in Ellenville, NY. Boy was the Spirit of God strong in that service!!!! The pastor gave me the whole service. What was really interesting was they had another church joined them for the service. A Reformed Church.
I started of by leading praise and worship using mix of Hymns & worship songs, the people seem to let lose and worship the Lord. I found my self going into preaching mode as I used the song "Blessed Assurance" to share the Gospel. You thought we were having a revival service!!!

Right now I'm writing from Starbucks. the camp ground has no internet and cell phones are iffy out there. I have joined my longtime friend pastor Rob lewis for a whole week at Camp Delanco in Tabernacle, NJ (around Atlantic City). I have been leading worship solo in the morning and working and sharing with the praise band at night. (talk about stretching me musically).

Lord willing on Saturday, I head up to NYC to do a out reach with Mission NYC in Spanish Harlem. Then Calvary Chapel of New Brunswick, NJ. Then home for a few days.
More dates have been added as well. I'm really excited to see the Lord open doors for me.
Well got to head back to the camp. Keep me in prayer.
In Jesus

I have really enjoyed my time of ministry here in Finger lakes, NY. My time of music and ministry here at Calvary Chapel has been very well received. My new CD' For All that You Are" just was flying off the table. I was also moved by hearing personal story from parents who shared what life has been like with a child with A.D.H.D. I am always amazed how my personal story of struggles and hardship and dealing with rejection as a youth, seems to give so much hope to families who child may be facing the same challenge I did.
Well my next stop is Ellenville United Methodist Church in Ellenville NY on Sunday. Then Sunday afternoon I head down to Tabernacle NJ to join my good friend Pastor Rob Lewis for a week long youth camp.
More dates have been added see below and please pray for the Lord blessing as I reach out and preach/sing the good news of new life in Jesus Christ.

Dear Family, Friends & Prayer parters,
I know were still in the month of June, but I wanted to go ahead and wish you a
Happy 4th of July before I take off again for the road.
I'm home for just a few days after kicking off the first part of my summer tour. The June part of my tour has taken me to Concord North Carolina, Liberty & Woodburn, New York and Kearny New Jersey & ending at Wurtsboro, New York

Now between all the traveling I have been able to do one big thing that I didn't think I can do while traveling and staying with wonderful host families that loves to make sure I'm well feed. I was able to lose 25 pounds. From 175 pounds to 150 pounds. What really was cool was to go from wearing large shirts to a small and wearing a size 36 in pants to 32 ( I haven't worn that size since 1990!!)
In fact at my church yesterday some of the people didn't know it was me.Some even said I looked much younger then before!!! (Wow to still be told you look 20 something when your really 41!!!) Now the challenge is to keep it off.

My desk top is still in the shop which is why I haven't been able to update the web site. Steve Pressnell who has kept me current with the computer age has set up shop again in his new home. I was given a another laptop which will replace the desk top. All were are waiting for is another hard drive with more space. This past weekend I got to share the stage with Mike Westendorf who is another Indie heaven artist at the Over flowing Cup in Beloit, WI. The over flowing cup is a cafe house ministry that has been running for over 33 years years. it is right in the heart of down town Beloit and has a powerful ministry among the youth. I have a video clip from the concert on myspace.com/gentlewindmusic
On Saturday I got to spend time with a host family that lives on a farm. It was awesome!!! I love home cook meals!!! Sunday another powerful worship service at St John United Church of Christ in Cecil, WI.
Well I'm back home in Indiana for a few days, then back to my 2nd home in Sheboygan,WI on Thursday were I have a board meeting with Mary & Donna at the Upper Room, Cafe house, then Saturday & Sunday I'll be sharing at St John United Church of Christ in Sheboygan. If your in the area, come on by.

Well,
the one good thing about being based in Indiana when touring the Midwest is I'm able to go home for a few days in between events if I chose to. Its a cloudy day here in Indianapolis. I was able to come home for a few days to catch up on the office side of the ministry.
My first stop was at the Upper Room Cafe in Sheboygan, WI this was after my TV appearance in Greenwood, IN that morning (believe me it was more like a 'flight" then a drive from Indy to Sheboygan, it takes 6 hours, I got there in 5!!!
It was a good thing that my friend and fellow Indie Heaven artist Mike Westerdorf was there to do the opening set. I needed time to catch my breath.
We did a couple of songs together and then I went into my solo set. A lot of people really responded to my new song "A Heavy Price". I also seem to have made new friends. One little girl just melted my heart as she sat next to me and shared how much she enjoyed my music.
Mike & I will be together again at the Over running Cup, Cafe house in Beloit, WI on the 18th of this month. I return to the Upper Room Cafe House this weekend to be apart of their 7 year anniversary celabration.
My Sunday morning and evening event at Congregational United Church of Christ in Mineral Point was very good. The town looks pretty much the same as when the started back in 1870's. It was awesome to walk down the main street of town and see old buildings that have been kept in real good shape.
Sunday morning I shared a "sermon" through song. Using the Gospel of Luke 15:11-32 I was able to tie in the song "The Dusty Road" and "Amazing Grace".
The evening concert was fun as well. A special thanks to Kandance for setting up the event.
Next stop besides the Upper Room is Trinity United Church of Christ in La Cross, WI. I have been given the whole service, pray the Lord flows in me and through me so others may know the good news of new life in Jesus Christ.
God Bless

Well I just started another busy tour season.
My first stop was Calvary Chapel of Oakland County, MI were I shared in leading worship and a few songs. The people really seemed blessed. In fact the pastor wants to have me come up a few times a year. I was already asked to come back in December.
I had a chance to stop in Toledo, OH and visit with my "Toledo family". It was good to see how everyone was doing.
I'm back home for a few days as I set up events for July-September. Friday is going to be a busy day. A TV appreance in the morning, then a 6 hour drive to Sheboygan, WI to share the stage with my good friend & fellow Indie heaven artist, Mike Westendorf for a concert at the Upper Room. Sunday I'll be busy all day as I preach/sing for the morning service then do a concert for the evening.
If you like to know were I'll be for the next two months, check out calender page here on my Indie heaven site.
Well I got to go and do some bills and wash. Keep me in prayer.

Back home in Indiana and some thoughts on my last Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Hey everyone,
I got back home to Indiana around 6pm last night. My last stop for this tour was Uturn for Christ in Greensville, TN a Christian rehab out reach for Drugs and Acohal. It was a blast to hang out with the brothers and sisters at the ranch. I shared mostly my newer songs like "Sunday after Sunday", "Caught in the Middle", "A Heavy Price" & "Dusty Road".
Many were touched not only by the songs, but my personal story of how even a "goody too shoe's" "mama's boy" "Christian musican" could get caught up in subtance abuse. After the concert, I talked with this one young man, who like me was raised in church, served in music ministry and after the untimely death of a love one, tailed spinned into drugs abuse. He knew who I was since he first saw me do a concert at the church he was raised up in. He was a young teenager back then.
At first we couldn't believe each others stories. We both had looks of "you too?" As we compaired stories, we came to the conclussion, the grip of sin in any form does not care if your a "goody too shoe" christian or one who is "luke warm", it's goal is to take down all Christians. Some get hit so bad, they give up or give in. Others get real wounded and are crippled. Some turn there backs on the Lord, and some get back up and try again, even if they get knocked down again and again, they still get back up.
We also shared about the effects the bad choices we made had on us, the aftermath, the pain, sorrow, regretts, and the grace of Jesus Christ that has been helping up through the rebuilding part of our lifes.
Very few people know about this part of my life (my pastor,my father and a few close people). But it may be as the year unfolds, I may share this part of my life as well.
Well, now that I'm home, I'm taking a few down days to regroup and then off to IL for Easter Sunday at Calvary Chapel Quad Cities.
I'll try to have the website updated with pictures from my recent tour.
Blessings

Another update from my North Carolina Tour Subscribe To My Blog (RSS)(Click this icon to Subscribe)

Hi everyone;
Had a very busy weekend of ministry. On Thursday I joined up with my good friend Mike Westendorf who is another Indie Heaven artist. Our Sponsers for the concert WKRK 1320am had us busy pretty much most of Friday.
We did two radio interviews, taped station I.Ds with our names (ex..This is David Michael Carrillo and your listening to etc) and got ready for the evening concert.
We got to play in this awesome Methodist church building in the center of town that was build in the 1920's. It was really cool.
Unknown to us, high school football is big in the town of Murphy, NC and would you know it, they had a big game the same night of the concert. Mike and I are very grateful for the ones who came to our concert. They were grateful we played and ministered to them from our hearts. Having been serving the Lord in the music ministry for over 20 years, I never take for granted the one's who come out. They are giving something you can never give back and that is there time. I have been blessed to play in every style of church worship setting and crowds. I've played in front of crowds of 10,000 plus to 5 people in a little country church. I'm reminded of a song I wrote back in my senior year of high school.

"I may sing for a large crowd, I may sing for only one.
But I must remember, I'm always singing for God's Son.
Make me less of the singer, make me more like a minister,
Make me less of the performer, make me more like a servant"
(c) 1984 The Songs of GentleWind (ASCAP)

On Saturday I met Carol who was my sponser for my ministry event in Greensboro. My shipment of my new books came in. Since many bought them in advance, I sat down and signed everyone.
Sunday was another busy day of serving the Lord. Back in Concord, NC I was the guest preacher/worship leader for Forest Hills United Methodist Church 8:30 am service.
Then at 11 am I ended up sharing at another church called Day Spring Community church in China Grove, had a great visit with my good friend Angela Connell and family, then off again back to Forest Hills to speak and sing at the 5:30 Spanish service (that was intresting since I don't know spanish, but I was able to sing my version of "Jesus Loves Me" in spanish since I learned how to sing that song with the help of my good friend Victor from Pattenson NJ.
7pm I was doing there evening "Old Timie" Service, again sharing in both word & song. Both pastors really enjoyed the ministry, and are already looking for me to come back.
Well today is Friday March 30th, I have one more event here in NC.Then I head back home to Indiana.
Please pray for April dates, I'm waiting to hear back from some churches. Please keep Mike Westendorf and I in prayer for May, we got some more dates together in Wisonson.
If you ever want to get a hold of me, feel free to email me at gentlewindmusic@yahoo.com
