Mission Statement

We are all created as unique people. Each of us blessed with unique and different backgrounds, cultures, and experiences. God has seen fit to join us together shoulder to shoulder for His glory. L-Rey is a musical ministry with a goal to help folks embrace the differences amongst people. We pray to bridge generations, cultures and music together, united in one accord through Jesus Christ. For His commission says that we will be known as His followers by our love towards one-another.


"L-Rey is a contemporary Christian R&B group that infuses its own style of American Latin-Pop, funk, soul, vibes into its music. Led by founder Martin Cantu who is also the former lead singer of the legendary Latin-Rock band Malo of "Suavecito" fame who featured Jeortge Santana on guitar. This San Francisco based band brings a unique twist to Christian music all together introducing an old, yet new sound to the Christian music industry. L-Rey delivers a message of hope, intent to reach the people at their innermost core. Their unique sound is influenced from bands such as Santana, Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago, Malo and Maroon Five

With music ranging from American contemporary to Latin-Soul, their second CD, titled "The Open Door" speaks to the openness of God and joy in a deeper relationship with Him. From funky tracks such as "Mi Corazon" to the "toe tapping" sounds of "The Open Door", their lastest CD lyrically strikes a chord and speaks to a wide audience. "The kindness that you share will come back as an open door.** Not only are these the song lyrics of their title track CD however it is also the core belief L-Rey message**

Their music will move you, their talents will electrify you, and their testimonies will bless you.

Some of L-Rey's accolades and bands they've ministered with in the past are:
Third Day, Disciple, Todd Agnew, Sanctus Real, Seventh Day Slumber, The Katinas, Wavorley, Mandisa, Aarron Shust, KJ-52, Krystal Meyer, Out of Eden and T-Bone, They have also ministered with Evangelist Nicky Cruz, Mario Murillo and actor Stephen Baldwin, not too mention Christian Comedians Bob Smi ley and Dennis Gaxiola.

Movies they have been apart of are 1998 "Follow Me Home" starring Oscar winner Alfre Woodard where L-Rey scored three songs. and in 2010, "La Mission" starring Benjamin Bratt of Law In Order where lead singer Martin Cantu has a speaking role and appears as a grocery store owner.
