Mission Statement

Doug Hallock Ministries has one main purpose - to spread the message of eternal life thru salvation in Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ is the ONLY answer - there is no other. My desire is that these songs will glorify the name of Jesus Christ, that those who listen will find comfort in this music, and that God will touch the heart of lost souls thru this work.
Isaiah 61:1 - 'He has sent us to comfort the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners.' The old is gone and the new is come.

Bio

I was a drug addict most of my adult life.

Beginning with alcohol and marijuana in the '70s, my addiction progressed throughout the years, more and more, worse and worse. In September 2004 I was a full-blown heroin addict, living in a smoky motel room in South Tucson, AZ. My wife had asked me to leave a couple months before. She had had enough. I was homicidal and suicidal, and ready to die.

Then a glorious thing happened. My wife Teri and several others performed an intervention and gave me two choices - continue as I was, and they would separate from me completely and cut me off from everything near and dear to me. Or, get help and they would support me.

I detoxed in a hospital, entered the Teen Challenge program, and got saved. I left Teen Challenge after several months with a story to tell. God loved me despite myself, and Jesus Christ was real, and had come into my heart.

I began writing stories about what I knew about the most - me. And I began turning these stories into songs. Within a couple of years, with the help of musicians at a wonderful studio, I released two cds - "Take This Cup" and "A Blessed Man". During this time the Doug Hallock & BROKEN Band was formed, and we began doing concerts in state prisions in Arizona, bringing a message of hope to the hopeless. We told people that it was never too late to do what God wants us to do - use the gifts he has given us for HIS glory, and no longer for our own glory.

By June 2010 we had released two more cds that are shown here on my profile - "Dead Man Walkin" and "Thorn". They are by far my best work. I bought a bus and our bookings evolved - by the summer of 2010 we were going coast to coast bringing our message of freedom in our songs and in our testimonies. We worked with recovery groups, churches, biker groups, and anyone that will listen to us.

I write songs about the pain of addiction, the glory of salvation, and the need to stay in recovery once delivered. And I write songs about how life really is - and it ain't always pretty.

I recently made the tough decision to no longer play with the band and play solo under my own name - Doug Hallock. I bring my band in a box when doing an event. I have the music to our cds on an ipod, excluding the keyboard and vocals, which are my parts. I plug the ipod into the sound board, then play and sing on top of it. It gives a full band sound even though I'm playing solo, and works out pretty well.

Our ministry has evolved into a marriage ministry. My wife Teri and I both give testimony in between my songs about where we were and where we are now. And how the heck we have managed to stay married for 35 years throughout all our stuff. We believe in being transparent about our stuff, and talking about it. It takes the power out of the pain. We believe that we bring a message of hope.

We have no doctrine or denomination. We just know that you have to be saved and born again in order to go to heaven and if you are not, you go to hell. We feel qualified to say this, because it happened to us.

We are a 501c3 organization. To hear our message and book an event with us, please contact me at:
